About 80 hours of community service done so far, currently in Junior Achievement as Vice President of Finance, not from the United States mainland (from U.S. territory), wanting to major in Business/Economics/Entrepreneurship at UCLA, currently Secretary of a club and in four other clubs, planning to run for President of a club for Senior year.

I will be taking my SATs this January for the first time, so no score yet.

At the rate I am going, do I have a good chance of getting into UCLA?

Also, can someone please tell me how I can make a difference in my community? I read somewhere that standing out in a community will get someone into UCLA, but I do not know where to start.

The fact that you dropped down to ONE honors class during your junior does not look good at all. Other than that, you look like every other applicant:

1) Good grades
2) Some leadership roles

And you don’t have test scores in. If you can get something published, do a major internship/job work, and score above a 32/2150 you’ll have better chances. Admission is VERY hard for out of state.

Thanks tyrtle, I appreciate it. Do you have any recommendations as to what I can do for internship/job work that would better my chances of getting into a good business school? I want to do something that is related to entrepreneurship/business/finance but I don’t know where to start. I am sorry I am so inexperienced.

Don’t listen to Tyrtle’s comment on the selectivity for OOS being harder. It is actually easier, statistically speaking. The ratio of OOS to acceptances is more favorable than it is for IS applicants.
