Chances of getting into CSU, San Jose State, or Cal poly

Currently, I am a senior and looking to apply for colleges in CA. I have a 2.33 GPA and 2110 SAT score(EI 3304). So, do you guys think, I have a chance of getting into any CSU or any other colleges in CA?

Other than Cal Poly SLO. all the CSU’s use the Eligibility index to rank applicants.

An EI of 3304 will get you into the non-impacted CSU’s such as Monterey Bay, Stanislaus, Channel Islands, Bakersfield, San Bernardino, Fresno plus Sac State, Cal State LA, East Bay, SJSU depending upon intended major.

If you are not satisfied with these options, you could attend a CC for 2 years and using the many articulation agreements with the CSU or UC’s, you could transfer into a choice school.

Why the mismatch with SAT vs. GPA? You are obviously a very capable student, so you do some choices.

Some privates to consider would be Whittier, Concordia, Cal Lutheran and Cal Baptist. I would google the common dataset for each school of interest and look at Section C for enrolled GPA ranges. Your SAT score is great.

Here is a link to the EI thresholds for SJSU by major:

Good Luck.

Gumbymom my intended majors are Aviation(Aeronautical Engineering), Electrical Engineering or any Engineering.

SLO is a Reach based on your GPA with the average for the school of Engineering being 4.13. Cal Poly Pomona could be go either way. You do make the EI cutoff for SJSU’s aviation major and barely at the cutoff for EE. Just remember that EI thresholds change yearly based on the applicant pool. Right now SJSU looks like your best bet. There is no harm in applying to CPP and SLO. I know the acceptance rate for EE and Aerospace at SLO is around 35-40%.

Apply to SLO if you like but, focus on the schools @gumbymom lists above.

In neighboring states, UNR, NAU, ASU are probably also worth a look.

Good luck.
