Hey, I'm a high school junior at a public school in Oregon. I have two safety schools, UO and OSU, that I know I would get most likely into. I'm setting my sights a bit higher nowadays, towards either USC, NYU, or Northwestern for a major in Journalism. I realize these may be out of my reach but I might as well have you all chance me. :) By the way, if you do feel I have no chance with any of these schools, I'd love some suggestions. I'm open to any school with a good Journalism program.

Basics:
- I go to your average public high school, though we only offer IB classes, no APs.
- Female, Mixed Race (Half Filipino, Half White)
- Class Rank: 1 out of 164, on track to be Salutatorian or Valedictorian

Academics:
- 4.0 GPA for the entirety of high school
- 2150 SAT (650 Math, 750 Reading, 750 Writing)
- 31 ACT (29 Math, 33 English, 34 Reading, 28 Science)

Current Schedule:
- Journalism
- Honors English (counts as a WR121 credit through the local community college)
- IB Math Studies SL
- Physics
- US History
- Theory of Knowledge
- Photography

Predicted Senior Schedule:
- Journalism
- WR122 or an English class through community college
- IB Environmental Systems and Societies HL
- Economics/Government
- Global Studies

Extracurriculars:
Yearbook
I was appointed Co-Editor during 10th grade, though I realized I didn't enjoy it enough to keep the position this year.

Journalism
My one true love throughout high school. We produce our school's newspaper and a literary review at the end of the year. I've been a member since 9th grade, columnist since 10th grade, and I'm currently Design Editor. I plan on applying to be Editor next year.

Cheerleading
I tried out and made it onto the JV team for Fall season during 10th grade, and moved up to Varsity for Winter season. This year, I was on Varsity for both seasons, and plan on continuing next year.

Leadership
This is basically my school's student council. We're responsible for school activities and school improvement. We also participate in community service around the area. I joined during 10th grade, and became a class officer this year.

INTERACT Club
I joined during 10th grade and became vice president this year. I plan on keeping this position into next year.

National Honors Society
I've been a member since 10th grade.

Work Experience
I've been working at a local candy shop since May, and hopefully will keep this job until the end of high school.

Community Service:
- Volunteer at the library during the summer (10, 11, and 12)
- Volunteer for local 'Peace Village' camp during summer (11 and 12)
- Around 100 other miscellaneous volunteering hours through NHS, INTERACT, and Leadership.
