Chance me-Virginia schools

Hey everyone! I am a senior in Virginia and I am getting ready to send in my applications to colleges and I want to know what you all think of my list!

College of William and Mary (reach)
Possibly University of Richmond (reach)
Virginia Tech
University of Mary Washington
James Madison University

My GPA is 3.35- my weakspot. However, on the ACT I have a 31 and a 1280 two score SAT, and I retook the ACT and am still waiting on a result. At my school I am a three sport athlete in Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track, and was made captain of the Cross Country team this season. Other leadership positions I have held is I was on the planning group for a week long summer camp, and have lots of volunteer hours- winning the President’s gold award for volunteerism the past few years. Finally I’d just like to say my family has a very large connection to W&M (my great aunt is a huge donor, my great uncle has a football interceptions record there, my dads grandparents and three uncles went there) and my dad went to Virginia Tech.

Please be reasonable and honest in your feelings, and let me know if there are any colleges you would reccomend (preferably in-state but nearby states like North Carolina are also welcome) I want to major in something liberal arts/social science, and go to a decent sized school where I am not swallowed up by the crowd but where there are plenty of organizations and involvement to do, and of course most important is that it is somewhere I could get a good education. I know this is long-winded. Thanks everyone!

Have you taken a hard schedule of classes? AP classes? That will make a difference in my response.

Yes. By the time I graduate I will have taken 9 AP classes:

9th grade-none
10th grade- AP European History
11th grade- AP US History, AP English, AP Biology, AP Statistics
12th grade-AP US Government, AP English, AP Environmental Science, AP Art History

So far I have passed all of the AP exams I have taken.

Ok…I am assuming that your GPS is unweighted because with nine APs, you should have a chance at a very high weighted GPA. I think that you are a good match for JMU. I think that Mary Wash could be a safety school for you. As far as VA Tech, I think it depends on which school you are applying to. If you apply to the general Arts and Sciences school then I think you are a match. Richmond and W&M are reaches IMO.

You could also look at Gettysburg if you want a smaller school not too far from Virginia.

I am not looking at the architecture or engineering school at Virginia Tech. I understand that they are harder to get into but they are not what I am interested in.
