Hey guys. I was hoping someone could chance me because I’m really nervous about applying to college in the fall. Thank you in advance.

-James Madison University (JMU)

-University of Virginia (UVA)
-Virginia Tech (I am NOT an engineering student)
-George Mason University (GMU)

ACADEMIC FACTS
I have a 3.3 unweighted GPA and a 3.6 weighted GPA.
I got a 1900 on my SAT (620 CR, 620 W, 660 M), and a 1280 CR+M

PAST CLASSES
Math: Honors Algebra 1 (passed with a B+), Honors Geometry (passed with a C+), Honors Algebra 2 (passed with a C+), Regular Precalc (passed with a B+).
English: Honors English 9 (passed with an A), Honors English 10 (passed with an A), AP Lang (passed with a B)
Science: Honors Biology (passed with a B+), Honors Chemistry (passed with a C+), Regular Physics (passed with a B)
History: Honors World History 1 (passed with an A), Honors World History 2 (passed with an A-), Honors US History (passed with a A-)
Foreign Language: Spanish 1 (passed with a B), Spanish 2 (passed with a B- ), Spanish 3 (passed with a B- )
Career Prep: Introduction to Health Science (passed with an A-) and Introduction to the Language of Medicine (passed with an A-).

CURRENT CLASSES
AP Biology (A- for first quarter), AP US Government (A for first quarter), AP English Literature (A- for first quarter), Probability and Statistics (A for first quarter), Journalism/Newspaper (B+ for first quarter), and Personal Finance (A for first quarter).
*First Quarter grades are the one colleges will see when I apply in January
EXTRACURRICULARS
School’s Lit. Magazine (sophomore, junior, and senior year plus two 1st place state wards), Girl Scouts (10 years, bronze and silver award), national history honor society (junior and senior year), and my school’s newspaper (senior year).

OTHER
My top choices are Virginia Tech, where I plan to major in Neuroscience, and JMU, where I plan to major in Biology.

JMU I’d say is a high match/low reach based on your GPA. Are you in the top half of your class? Your SAT score is at or above their 75% percentile.

I’m not that familiar with Mary Washington’s admission stats, but I’d say that they’re probably a low match.

VCU is a (low) match. Your SAT and GPA are both in range for them.

Your GPA is way too low for UVA, so I would not expect an acceptance from them.

Virginia Tech your GPA is on the low side, but your SAT is around the 50th percentile. I’d say low reach.

Mason is probably a safety, although they don’t like Cs, so maybe more a low match.
