Chance Me - Wants to be an Engineer (or maybe a Physicist)

Applying to the following:
Boston
Carnegie Mellon
Case Western
Georgia Tech
Harvey Mudd (really big reach)
Miami (Ohio) (safety, i think)
Northeastern (safety, i think)
Johns Hopkins
Reed (for Physics only)
Rensselaer
Rice
Santa Clara (safety, i think)
University of Washington (in state)

I know the list is long, but I really don't have the time to visit and don't want to narrow down anymore before doing that. If you have things you'd like me to add, please tell me. I really don't want to subtract stuff (I've paid for transcripts and SAT / ACT scores already).

GPA: 3.4
SAT: 2110 (CR 740 / M 780 / W 590), 2020 (CR 630 / M 770 / W 620)
ACT: 33 ( E 33 / R 35 / M 33 / S 32 / W 8 )
SAT IIs:
I signed up for both October and November because I had none and need some.

Biology: taking soon
Chemistry: 670
Literature: taking soon
Math II: 800
Physics: taking soon
US History: 690

Essay is on Robotics. Short Essay is on a Youth Board. I would like to believe that the subject matter is interesting in both of them, and both show my personality. I stray on the side of being technical when I should show more human connection. I'm organized, but you could probably change the paragraphs around a little and it would still be readable. Overall: Great, not excellent.

Activities: I've been dedicated to Robotics, Youth Board, and some other clubs. Done some volunteer work and played Tennis and Track on and off. A few leadership positions but nothing major. In total, about 7 dedicated activities. Two short term (<1 year / summer) things are included in additional information.

GPA has been sort of increasing. No Cs junior year. Hardest schedule in the school.
Probably have (assuming 1 college class = 1 year)
7 years math (1 AP 4 College)
5.5 years science (4.5 AP)
2 years comp sci (2 College)
7 years history/social science (3 AP 2 College)
4.5 years english (2 AP)
1 year art
1 year Music theory (AP)
3 years language (I, II, and IV, skipped III)

I'm Indian, no help there.

Not applying for Financial Aid, btw

I think you’re already having the wrong set of mind when you chose your screenname to be “willberejected”… You shouldn’t say that…

I think you have a lot of opportunities to be accepted into GREAT colleges.

The name means nothing, ignore it if you want to.

crystal91, you have told me nothing. Yes, I believe most of those colleges are great. And I think I have lots of opportunities to be accepted. That is why I’m applying to them.

I just want to know my chances at those individual schools.

Thanks anyways.

Boston - U? Match
Carnegie Mellon - reach
Case Western - reach
Georgia Tech - not sure
Harvey Mudd (really big reach) - idkk i think it’s low reach
Miami (Ohio) (safety, i think) - not sure, match i guess
Northeastern (safety, i think) - math
Johns Hopkins - definitely reach
Reed (for Physics only) - dunno
Rensselaer - not sure
Rice - reach
Santa Clara (safety, i think)
University of Washington (in state)

BU-low reach
Carnegie-low reach
Reed-reach
Renseelaer-low reach
Don’t know about the rest

Boston - Match
Carnegie Mellon - low reach
Case Western - idk
Georgia Tech - match
Harvey Mudd (really big reach) - reach
Miami (Ohio) (safety, i think) - in
Northeastern (safety, i think) - in
Johns Hopkins - low reach
Reed (for Physics only) - dunno
Rensselaer - not sure
Rice - low reach
Santa Clara (safety, i think)
University of Washington (in state)

Thanks for chancing me so much!
Boston : If it’s BU def in, IDK about BC
Carnegie Mellon: Def iN
Case Western : In
Georgia Tech : Idk much about this one…sorry
Harvey Mudd ; Only a slight reach if you ask me
Miami (Ohio) : I agree this is a safety
Northeastern : I would put this as a match, but in
Johns Hopkins: Ermm…i’d say rejected
Reed (for Physics only) : Probably in
Rensselaer : IDK
Rice : IDK…sorry
Santa Clara : agree on safety
University of Washington : IN

I want more opinions!

You have the same problem I had in high school (Great EC’s, high test scores, but low GPA)

I hate to be repetitive, but I pretty much agree with what everyone else is saying; it looks like you’ll have a hard time getting into BC and Mudd, you’re pretty likely to get into Santa Clara and Miami…

basically, you’ve got a lot of really good ECs to make you stand out, but your GPA is gonna kill you here. These are some of the top schools in the country, and of course a lot of applicants are going to have a higher GPA than you. Maybe their Activities and Test Scores won’t be as high, but colleges seem to favor GPA. You stand out enough that you should be able to get into most of your schools just because you’re cool, but the top-tier schools’ admissions are too competitive to say.

If your going for engineering you would be more of a match. I don’t think NEU is a safety school by any means.
