Chance me! (Weird Situation)

<p>Well I am a junior in highschool and I studying for the ACT this year.</p>

<p>But the thing is my school is a charter school, faith-based, new and small. REALLY small. There is only 80 students. In the WHOLE highschool. And me and my classmates are the first generation to graduate from the school. My school has no sports but stresses on the Fine Arts department.
Where I live, the average ACT score is REALLY low, like as in lower than a 20.</p>

<p>I am freaking out! I have seen stats of other people and I don't think I am close to achieve where I want to go.</p>

<p>I want to attend Yale (I know it is a reach) and major in Graphic Deisgn. My back-up is Rhode Island School of Design. I know I need to work more if I even want to be considered to attend such places, but I don't know what to do.</p>

<p>Here are my stats:</p>

<p>GPA: 4.O
All A's
RANK: 1/80
Ethnitcity: Hispanic</p>

<p>Classes: My school (unfortunately) does not have AP courses. </p>

<p>EC:</p>

<p>-Yearbook (CHief-editor for three years)
-Graphic Design (5 years)
-Art 3 (But had experience for fourteen years)
-Piano (5 years)
-Volunteers at Library
-Founder and President for Spirit Comitee
-NHS (President)
-Student Council (President)
-Photography (5 years)</p>

<p>-Won awards in photography and painting contests. My artwork has been showcased in Austin and other places like my school and my city.</p>

<p>So what are my chances?</p>

<p>colleges, obviously, care most about academics. they want to see that you are challenging yourself in the curriculum and classes avaliable to you. so if your school doesn’t offer AP or any other advanced classes, they really can’t hold that against you.</p>

<p>Get a more rounded list than just Yale and Rhode Island School of Design, for starters. Even without test scores, I can definitively say that you’re competitive for top-notch schools. No one can say definitively if you are going to get in… but you’re a competitive applicant, and that’s a start.</p>

<p>I do have other schools that I am looking at like the Art Institutes, Oxford, Harvard, Cranbrook Academy of Art, Parsons School of Design (New York), and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago</p>

<p>Definitely if you will not be penalized if your school does not offer APs, Ibs so as they say they will be looking and analyzing applicants individually. You might have good chance. but with schools like yale, there is no guarantee. Increase the list of schools. Best of luck.</p>
