(I've only listed my main EC, got plenty of minor ones)

Going to get recommendations from two teachers as well as the principal

I know the grades are substantially low compared to the people who do get in, but I know somebody from my school who did get an offer from Wharton, who had slightly better grades than i did, (IB 35) SATS (around 2000) and excellent ECs, including head boy.

Im guessing that person got thanks to his ECs as well as good recommendations and apps

the only reference to GPA in this thread is to a 3.2 (i dont know how IB works). sorry to say, but with a 3.2 GPA, getting into penn would be nearly impossible. Also, your SAT’s are below the 25th percentile, need to get those up

The GPA is not that good for Penn, but you can’t do anything about it now.

The SATs aren’t great (for Wharton or The CAS) either. However, you can do something for them. Study a lot and retake it (aim for a 2250 at least).

Your SATIIs are a little bit par. Getting the 800 in Korean, I’m sorry to say, means nothing since you are Korean. Retake them if you have time, but the SAT should be #1 priority.

You have great ECs, so that will go in favor of you. Make sure your teacher recommendations are great, and your essays are eye-popping.

Would you say taking Korean Sat still mean nothing if i somehow tell them i’ve never learnt korean in my life even though im korean? cuz ive lived outside of korea all my life and been goin to british schools

OP, if you’re an international applying early and willing to pay full, you definitely have a shot at Wharton. The only problem is your GPA/IB score. If you can raise your predicted score to around the mid-30s, you just might get lucky.

^Those people had low SAT scores, but not necessarily low GPA.
I think it’s harder to get in with a lower GPA rather than a lower SAT (and this makes me sad… I WANT TO GET IN!!!)

^ School grades always outweigh test scores. I just wanted to let the OP know that he/she still has a chance. Wharton may be competitive but it’s definitely not out of reach.

@PrincetonDreams: the problem is, OP has low GPA…
Oh well, I sure hope he has a fighting chance, because that would mean by transfer, I would have a fighting chance xD

Although CollegeBoard listed for Penn that standardized test scores as more important than GPA. Presumably, this is from questionaire they administer to the school admission office.
