Take intensive art classes at my high school (not for credit, but i'll have a portfolio ready- i've gotten chosen for a lot of art shows, i'd say i'm pretty good) and have a solid psychology research project (submitting an abstract), also in peer leadership program at HS. taking piano lessons for 12 years- not conservatory good but pretty decent (is it worth doing a music supplement?)

(I guess I'm worried I'll just be seen as an uninteresting westchester kid with good grades, also, does it look like i'm spreading myself too thin? or is this more well-rounded than overambitious?)

let me know- thanks!

white plains high school? rye high school?
good shot at everything really but they’re still reaches since they’re the ivies.
georgetown = high target though

Disclaimer: I belong to the Know-Nothing party. Not in the nativist sense but in the ignorant about college for the most part sense.

“GPA: 99.91”
Woah. Chuck Norris much?

Valedictorian and standardized testing scores: wonderful. It’d be helpful if you posted more academic competition titles; I can’t tell how significant your clubs actually are. You have good leadership and ECs otherwise, nothing that really stands out. Your research sounds legitimate. I will agree with you that you are spread thin. You seem to be all over the place, which could be helpful if you are a superhero and put significant time commitment into everything.

Harvard - who knows; they’re random
YP - reach
MIT - since you’re a male, you’re screwed! I’m kidding; reach
Gtown - probably match/high match

oh yeah, disclaimer: GPA is weighted.

Is an A an 100?

A+ is 100. A is 93-96.

Do I want to know what an F is?

65 and below

a more specific question- would it be too much to submit a music supplement in addition to an art supplement and a research abstract?

-another EC i forgot: AWOD (A World of Difference)- Club Promoting Tolerance of Diversity- 10th-12th grade

Yale hates supplements if they’re not necessary. You should only submit one of the three; two is pushing it. Three might kill your app. I would advise submitting your research since it’s uncommon. Your art is probably gorgeous but I think your awards cover it.

Leadership in all those areas is good, but did you do anything significant in those groups?

Sometimes, being a president for many different groups can hurt because colleges can look at your application and say: “How did this person manage to become the president of all these different groups? How did this person manage to actually run each of these groups? Did the person actually run the group instead of just having the title ‘President’?”

Unpredictable for Harvard, Reach for YP and MIT (MIT might be higher). Rest is high match.

@cantnobody- thanks for the supplement feedback. definitely helpful.

@supernovamaniac- thanks for the leadership feedback. i’ll see what i can do.

Definitely focus on the AIME and leadership in your resume.
Maybe bring up the 720 CR.

Good luck!
