Chance Me

Hello you lovely people! I was hoping that you could take two seconds to chance me for a few schools. I have a 3.3 gpa. (I got all A's and B's but I got one F) Thankfully I got A's in all of my government and criminal justice classes. I'm hoping to major in either International Relations or Political Science. I have a lot of volunteer work under my belt; a sexual assault hotline, a local gay community center, the mayors office, habitat for humanity, a local municipal court, and i'm a big sister. I'm African American. I know I can write a rocking essay. lol. So I picked five schools that I am applying to...

Occidental
Pace
Whittier
American University
California Lutheran

Do you guys think I have a chance? lol

bump bump bump bump

I don’t know much personally about any of those schools but, I’d say you have a fairly good shot. A 3.3 GPA isn’t perfect but, it’s not bad either (I’m not one to talk on that, mines a 3.1 and I’m trying to transfer as well). Your GPA shouldn’t hinder your chances much, depending on how many credits you have.

The best advice I can give you is this. Schools like to have their core requirements finished before you intend to transfer so, if there’s a link anywhere on the site listing what is require of current students to get into their programs, follow it as closely as possible. Generally speaking though,if you have good SAT/ACT scores (some schools don’t ask for them so that’s not important) then I’d say you’re good to go. Even without them I imagine you’ll be just fine :)

Thanks doll! Yeah it seems like anything under a 3.8 around here is state school worthy. lol. Good luck with your transferring! Where are you thinking of going?

Thanks for your advice!

occidental will not be hard if you can write good essay.

if you can, try to come to their office in person to drop off your materials. dont show up everyday.lol

tehy are small college.so they have more chance to look at each student

If you have 30+ credits:

1)Occidental is going to be tough.
2) Decent chance for the rest.

If you have less than 30 credits then your SAT scores and high school record will be weighed into consideration.

Pace in Westchester is a very dull school haha that’s where I’m trying to transfer from, but if you are trying for pace (nyc or westchester) you can get in no problem

I’ve applied to a few schools. Michigan State, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, and Indiana. I’ve been accepted too all but Indiana which I’m still waiting to hear from. I’m also applying with a 3.2, so ignore the 3.1 typo up there  I imagine I’ll be alright especially since I’ve had 3.8 GPA’s my past 3 semesters. I’m trying to work up from a 2.3 that I accomplished in 2007. I had an issue with my family (mom had a stroke and such) so I wasn’t at school as often as I should have been.

We’ll see what happens. Good luck to you!

@elynn omg im so sorry about your mom! but your accomplishments are amazing! congrats!

@moya thanks so much! i’m in florida so it’ll be hard to get to oxy lol.

@bottlecap yeah right now I have 45 credits and hopefully 60 by the end of this semester. i was thinking oxy would be my reach but hopefully my essay will give me a little help. lol. thanks for your advice!

@transfer oh boo!! i visited the campus and it was a bit dull but hopefully i can get used to it. lol. hopefully it’s not dull enough to make me transfer! lol.

She’s alright now. It was just hard with everything going on and I wanted to be there. She had gotten surgery on her neck and it’s assumed an air bubble got trapped in her veins which is what caused the stroke. She’s lucky to be here but it’s the past. Everyone is healthy now! & thank you :)
