A big question: are you a good enough athlete to be recruited at the Division 1, 2 or 3 level? If the coach wants you, you get placed in a different category with lower admissions standards. The coach for each sport has a certain number of slots reserved for kids that he can get through admissions (even for D3, non-scholarship schools).

If you’re interested in playing, talk to your coach to get a frank appraisal of what your abilities are.

My general advice to kids who want to play in college is to get yourself into the best academic school that you can get into where you can still play.
