If the college needs you to play for a team, you have a pretty good shot.

I would take the math sat again, however.

My son raised his math score from a 660 to a 700, with zero studying

But if you are out of state, presumably, it will be somewhat harder to get in.

Thank you! And yes I am taking the SATs again in October

Are you male or female? It makes a big difference in W&M Admissions.

You are probably in, although it might be a bit harder if you are female and from Northern Virginia. Londondad.

I’m a female OOS

It is an easier school to get into for boys. Why do you want to go to W&M?

Have you taken physics and the fourth year of a foreign language? These classes, along with calc which you said you’re taking, are some benchmark classes we like to see. Also, did you take an APs prior to senior year? Generally, students who attend high schools who offer a multitude of APs, take a few in junior year and then a healthy number in senior year.

Glad to hear you’re taking the SAT again in October. While your current CR + Math puts you in our mid 50% overall, our OOS mid 50% is about a 1390-1450 and since we superscore the SAT, taking it again cannot hurt you.

We’d encourage you to do all you can to get really good marks this year and try to raise your class rank a bit. 80% of those we admit graduate in the top 10% of their class and because we are selective OOS, we’d definitely advise getting great first-semester grades.

We’d also encourage you, if you haven’t already, to pursue a leadership position (say captain of your athletic team). That can help distinguish you.

If you’re being recruited by one of our coaches that will also be a plus factor for you.

londondad, while we certainly seek to build a class with a balanced gender ratio, gender does not make a “big difference” to us. It is one factor of many.

Thank you for you’re feedback! In response to you’re question about my junior year classes, yes, I did take APs, I have taken four levels of Spanish, and I did take physics. Here was my junior schedule:
English III Honors
Pre-Calc Honors
AP US History
Physics Honors
Spanish 4 Honors
AP Chemistry
Concert Band

That definitely helps to augment your schedule. We do however like to see students increase their rigor each year with senior year being the most challenging. If you are able to take an additional AP this year (say AP Calc instead of honors Calc) that would serve to make your schedule that much stronger.
