NONETHELESS, thankyou for taking the time out of your day to read this, and any response/advice will be greatly appreciated. <3

** 1 Last Note: Is it harder to get into these schools as an Engineering Major than for say, a Bio major? Also, I have not taken the 3rd year of Spanish, which I guess is recommended. So.. Should I take that online? Or just let it be. Thanks again!

the only thing that matters is that youre in the top compared to your classmates. they do admissions based on high school profiles, so even if you have excellent statistics over other people in other high schools, you can still be rejected if youre not at the top of your high school. Focus on your own high school rank because that is how admissions work, they dont care if you had a much better application from, say the rank 5 student at a ghetto high school. Theyll choose the gpa 3.7 rank 5 student over you if youre not at the top of your high school.

On the other hand, UCSD gives admissions by points system, and I believe you have the statistics for making it into UCSD easily. And yes, you should try to choose undeclared or another non-engineering major if you are not confident in gaining admissions like that. UCLA engineering is very competitive.

dragnslays: Good to know! Thanks  . Also, if I was to apply as undeclared, how difficult would it be to enter into engineering, due to the fact it is so competative. Thanks again.

Also… Forgot to post my Senior Schedule:

 1. AVID Tutor
 2. AP Psychology
 3. AP Calculus BC
 4. AP Government
 5. AP Biology
 6. AP Literature

you have a good shot at declaring yourself into the engineering field if the science classes you take such as the physical sciences has a good gpa like a 3.7 or above. they dont consider your senior year.

ohh alright. Im still a little shady on this area. If I apply as an engineering major, are my chances of acceptance automatically reduced due to the fact that I am choosing an impacted major, over someone who chooses History, for example?

engineering is just highly competitive at ucla, but by no means choosing a less popular major will guarantee you an easier rate at admissions. are you in the top 5 of your class or top 2%?

I am ranked 44/ 876 students (Top 5% I believe). BUT that is counting freshman year, which I did not do very hot… (2 B’s each semester) but then again my school is very competative. If calculated in a UC GPA Method, such as ELC, i would be ranked even higher than that. Possible top 2-3?

just see the rank 10-12 gpa. thats what they will use, not your 9-12 gpa.

Alright, if that is the case, then I am in even better shape, because like i said, my Freshman year grades were not up to par. However, I do have an upward trend in grades if that even matters… But yeah, unfortunately, I do not have access to the 10-12 gpa, my schools grading website only offers 9-12 weighted/unweighted.
