chance me :)

sooo... I'm a junior in high school and I have no idea where I'm going to go to college.
I have that asian mom, so a university that has a good reputation but also a good "fit" for me would be perfect. From the little research I've done I'm considering University of Chicago and Northwestern University (not a resident of chicago..)
here is how I stand so far (yeah I know I'm pretty paranoid with all the "predicted" nonsense):
* PSAT semifinalist (maybe finalist??)
* predicted SAT: in the 2300s
* SAT II: 780 Math II
* predicted SAT IIs: higher 700s Chem, higher 700s Bio
* ACT: 35
* Rank: Top 10% (340 students)
* AP: Calculus AB/BC, Statistics, Chemistry, Physics C (Mechanics), English (Language)
* predicted (as in by the time I apply) weighted GPA: 3.7 (this is what I am most worried about!!!!)

Mu Alpha Theta (math) participant, running for VP next year

Interact Club (service) participant, running for president next year

Beta Club (service)

KSA (Korean Student Association) participant, running for president next year

Varsity Tennis, co-captain

Volunteer: lots of hours at food shelter/soup kitchen, also hours from Beta and Interact, I plan to work at a hospital during the summer

*Public, Magnet High School
* Asian Male
* Plan to go out of state

I kind of took this outline from the results thread btw.
Sooo are there any recommendations?
p.s. I made this because I have a lot of time on my hands.. I'm not crazy..

Well right now you’re pretty well off with the academics, but you need something to really help you stand out because you look exactly like most other applicants.If you can land some of those leadership positions it will really help you out, especially if you can contribute a change to one of the clubs/organizations you participate in.

Not with that GPA. OP is at a serious disadvantage with a weighted GPA of 3.7, although it’s balanced out a bit by still being in the top 10%.

What’s your unweighted GPA? Do you have an upward trend?

Only if you can contribute. Otherwise they’re essentially useless.

Your scores will help you, but your ECs as they stand are nothing special, nor is your GPA. Focus on writing solid essays (especially for UChicago) and getting great recommendations, and make sure your GPA from here on out is as high as it can get. It’s worth a shot, but I’d peg them both as high reaches, so be prepared for a rejection.
