I'm interested in Georgia Tech's Chemistry major for undergrad. I'm a bit nervous about my though. If it makes a difference I am female and am physically disabled, also I am an instate resident.

Unweighted GPA: 3.75
SAT: 1810; 1190 on the 1600 scale
ACT: 27

I'm going to try to bring up my ACT score. I've tried taking the SAT again and fell a lot.

I have also taken one AP class. I know this is quite bad as GATech has selective admissions but my Senior year I am taking three more. Junior year I couldn't take any because my health got really bad sophmore year and I almost dropped out of high school. I've recovered and I'm trying to improve my chances. Thanks I appreciate it.

I have strong extraciriculars for two years (worked for varsity, jv, and freshman sports teams for two years). But then health got in the way and I had to stop it.

That SAT score is really, really low for GT. To be competitive, you want to be in the 1350-1400/1600 SAT range with a 700 math.

Although the SAT score is a bit low, you’re not out of hope !! I suppose try to work more on your essay.

I suggest you work harder on your SAT’s. This year, the average accepted was 1400/1600. Accepted students this year also had 8 AP/IB/college courses.

It is easier that you are female and physically disabled, but I would still aim for at least a 1300/1600 SAT.

You might consider starting at Southern Poly Tech and transferring to Ga Tech
