Chance Me?

I'm from India, and I'll need a significant amount of financial aid if I do get through.

GPA: Well, our school doesn't have it. However, I'm in the top ten percent of my class for most subjects and the topper for CompSci.

SAT I: 2250

ECs: Lots of stuff here (all international competitions)

Other stuff:
- Editor of the school magazine.
- Several awards from our school's dramatics and computer clubs.
- I regularly contribute to several open source projects. (eg. the Sahana Software Foundation)
- I volunteer with our school's Interact Club and help teach kids computer skills at school.
- I love creating things, so I've got a lot of stuff that I've created online, like web applications, games, and so on.
- etc.

I'm interested in majoring in CS, if you haven't guessed so far.

Thanks!

International + financial aid puts you at a really tough spot. Your other stuff is good. I would say mid-high reach.

But isn’t Cornell need-blind?

“Is financial aid available to international students?
• Cornell University provides need-based financial aid on a limited basis to a selected number of admitted international students who have applied for financial aid. We do not offer merit, athletic, or talent based aid to students.”

There is no merit, athletic, or talent aid and need based aid for international students is very limited and competitive. If you are going to need a lot of financial aid, definitely consider applying to other schools besides Cornell.
