Chance me?

Hi everyone,

I applied to UMich School of Kinesiology and was wondering what my chances were of getting in. It's my top school so fingers crossed!

GPA: 3.8 on a 4.0 scale, school doesn't report weighted/unweighted, also we have a very rigorous grading system with an A being 93-100

Went to a college prep high school in Illinois

ACT: 29

AP classes: AP Psychology, AP English Literature and Composition, AP English Language, AP Economics

Hook: Mom is a legacy, I have also struggled with a bilateral hearing loss which means I am fully deaf in one ear and partially deaf in the other. I talked about how it affected my studies.
Extracurriculars:

President of High School

300+ hours of community service at food pantry

Ambassadors Club

Spanish Club

Won Most Valuable Student

Vice President of National Business Honor Society

National Honor Society

Spanish National Honor Society

Mathematics Honor Society

Captain of the Cheer and Track Varsity teams

IHSA Scholar

Worked with Youth Conservation Corps for a summer job 40+ hours/week

Made it to State in track and cheerleading three times

Please please please chance me!

I thought 93-100 for an A was standard.
Your GPA and ACT are sorta in the middle, but a little low probably for out of state students. Your class rigor also seems pretty average. Your EC’s are quite impressive however and may be the driving factor for your possible acceptance

I think your GPA is fine but the ACT is a little low. ECs are excellent though and may well carry the day. Also agree with Michael, 93-100 being the range for A is not a very rigorous scale.

I thought 90-100 was standard for an A. Hm maybe I’m wrong. Thank you for the chances though. :)

And also, I took all honors and AP classes so my class schedule is pretty rigorous.

Just curious, what was the criteria for Most Valuable Student?

My only concern would be your ACT score. Best of luck!

School of Kinesiology. You’ll have good chances.

Mcskill: The criteria was that the student had to excel in the areas of leadership, academics and sports.

Thanks Ketchup, seemed like a very vague and funny award name, and turns out it is.

Think you have a pretty good shot at getting in, good luck!

lol. My school’s A is a 95-100 and I never really thought of it as a rigorous school.
