Chance me?

Hey guys. Second post at CC :)

Im a brazilian white male, and might apply ED I.

I attend to a VERY rigorous private school, that ranks in the top 1% of schools in Brazil

GPA - estimated 3.3 for high school average (currently at 3.5, but grade 12 is very demanding)
SATs - 730 CR/ 700 M/ 710 W
Top 10% ranking within school

Languages:

English
German
Portuguese (duh)
Italian
Spanish

Activities:

Semester-long exchange to Canada (grade 11)
Founded an educational NGO (grade 12)
Marketing VP at a Junior Achievement mini company (won 2nd best in Latin America, grade 11)
Graduation committee (grade 12)
Yearbook committee (grade 12)
Piano/Music Classes (grade 9-11)
Brazilian Youth Parliament winner and participant (grade 12)
Best short movie award (state wide, grade 11, directed)

Expecting very good recs. Will require some financial aid. Expecting major in Econ.

PS. The brazilian system does not allow us to chose classes in high school. We have to take every single academic class possible. While on my exchange to Canada I took English 11, Bio 12, SS 11 and Pre-Calc 11.

Thanks!

You have pretty great ECs, but unfortunately, the good ones are all in grade 12, which is a little suspicious.

Being an international and requiring fin aid pushes your chances down. They aren’t need blind for internationals.

I say, other than the fin aid and international, you have a pretty good chance. I suggest aiming for the Seaver rather than any fin aid.

You have good EC’s and SAT score, but your GPA is lacking. Average Unweighted GPA was 3.87 which would make it a low reach.

@Woandering‌ Thanks for your reply! I need to do a certification of finances to apply, so I can’t not pursue need aid… I guess a lot of my ECs are in grade 12, but the yearbook/graduation committees are grade 12 only. I should probably make that clear in my app so I don’t look opportunistic lol

thanks again

@Gumbymom thanks for your answer! You can’t really compare GPAs for different educational systems, and I hope they take that into consideration (which I think they do). I am going to take some subject tests to offset that low GPA :)
