Hello all. I’m going to be a senior in high school this coming fall and want some input on my chances for some of the SUNY schools. I intend to major in Economics. Here is my information below:
GPA: 90-91
SAT Reading: 540
SAT Math: 620
SAT Writing: 430
Extra Activities: Not much
I have not taken any AP classes so far but I am taking AP Economics this year.
I plan on taking the SAT again this fall to improve my writing and overall score.
I’m mainly interested in SUNY New Paltz, Buffalo, and Albany. However, I am open to other SUNY schools.
Thanks.
My brother’s SAT scores were lower than yours, except writing, and he got into New Paltz and Albany. If you can raise it a bit, I think you’ll be okay. Great essays and teacher recs would really help. Extracurriculars too, but it’s probably too late at this point to do anything meaningful.
Apparently some SUNYs don’t include the scores and grades of the students admitted to special programs (EOP, Advantage, Internationals) while most other schools do include scores from all the students entering as freshman. Therefore the scores you see posted are a bit inflated. This was true a few years ago. I believe it is still true. So your scores may be more competitive than they may initially appear to be. https://www.suny.edu/student/downloads/pdf/eop_profile.pdf Not sure if the Advantage Program or the scores for International students are available anywhere.
