I agree your test scores are a little low, but it wouldn’t take that much to bump them up a bit. Your ECs are great! jAlso some nice strength to your academic schedule. Honestly I think with a strong essay you’ll have a decent chance to get in. If I had to guess yes or no, I would bet YES, you will make it. Good luck!

Your EC’s are great, and that makes up about 50% of UF’s holistic admission process. The other 50% is GPA, Class Rigor, essay (which is important), and test scores (least important). Your GPA is ok (middle 50% range), while your test score is a little low. Try to get it up 1 or even 2 points, but even without a better score, you have a solid chance at UF.

Good Luck!

Thank you to both! I will raise up those scores

Honestly, prepare for a rejection. I recently got into Uf and i am currently attending there, but i have noticed a trend of the students they tend to accept. You’re EC are great, and you seem like a good student, however all UF really cares about is GPA. You HAVE to have the GPA, the rest is just bonus points. When I graduated, mostly everyone with a 4.3 and above got in. A select few (around 3) with lower gpas (4.2 and below) got pace, innovation or straight rejected. Its too late to raise up your GPA because they dont look at senior year, but your best bet right now is getting into innovation or pace and these are not programs you want to be in. So, my advice as a student who has been throught UFs admission process is to hope for the best and pray that the students applying in your school suck!! Im sorry to be a downer but I just dont want to see you get your hopes up. If you arent accepted however, there is an appeal process!! Feel free to dm me if you have any questions

also sorry for my grammatical errors lol its late in the night

@gatorgal545 can an above average test score make up for a below average gpa?

That means 25% of the students get in with GPA’s less than 4.1. Of course, since UF uses holistic admissions, these students likely had strong EC’s (UF puts more focus on GPA/Class rigor and ECs, than test scores).

Holistic admissions can seem a bit random. Make sure you also apply to a few other schools, but if you’re interested in UF, you should apply.

Good Luck!

I definitely wouldn’t rule out innovation. Just an FYI that I have two close friends whose sons are in the program and are very happy. Innovation has a lot of benefits with extra advising and being like a school with in a school. Both boys started with Fall Terms and were able to live in the dorms. They took 6 credits online and have access to everything. Its the equivalent of their “summer session.” The only downside is they go to school year round because they want to be there for football season, but as upper classman they plan to do their internships in Gainesville in Fall. So for anyone who might be borderline and has their heart set on UF and is willing to be flexible about taking class summer term, its a real option. Heck all Florida universities have a 9 summer credit requirement so most kids end up there for at least one summer term anyway. Just another perspective.

@2kidzmom I would like to apply to IA but you can only apply regularly or to IA. Of you had the option to choose if accepted then I would apply but you have to pick one or the other!

@soyunchico Unfortunately that seems to be the way it works. it really comes down to weighing the odds and if the innovation program can work for you. Do you have Naviance? If so, What are the stats of other kids from your school who have been accepted to UF? Look at where you fit in. If there are as many rejections as acceptances near you and you have your heart set on UF, then consider Innovation. Find out more about the program. They have changed it a lot in the last couple of years. Good luck with your decision.

@loulou13 yeah I will check. If I wanted to do business then IA is definitely an awesome choice. Unfortunately, I don’t think it will work for what I want to do.

@loulou13 honestly the IA program is known for the students that cant get into uf regularly. You become very secluded and miss our on fall semester which is when all the fun happens and is when you start to make friends. I would rather be accepted to PACE than do innovation for 4 years. Would not reocmmend

@soyunchico Test scores do not matter as much to Uf, my close friend got accepted into pace with a 4.1-4.2 gpa and a 30 ACT score. UF definitely wants to see a high gpa… Unless your score is very very good (im taking 33 and up) UF doesn’t really care.

@gatorgal545 How about a 4.1 GPA and a 32 ACT with over 1,000 community service hours?

Thanks for your reply!! I’ve taken a bunch of hard courses in my school that many others haven’t and passed all my AP test so I hope that shows something. But thanks for your advice!

Also, I know multiple people that got in with 4.2 and a 29… for summer? So i don’t know how it works. I’m curious the stats for pace program.
