Chance Me?

I'm only a sophomore in high school, but here's just a brief overview of my stats.
Yes, I know I'm not exactly a stellar student, but some of my top picks for college include UC Berkeley, Northwestern, UPenn, and Georgetown.

Freshman Year:
Latin II H
Geometry H
Orchestra
English H/G <--- "Honors/Gifted"
Global Studies H
Biology

I had several B's, 5 total throughout my freshman year.
- Took Chemistry H course over summer school

Sophomore Year:
Health
Latin III H
Alg 2/Trig H
Chamber Orchestra H
English H/G
AP Human Geo
Physics H

I also received several B's first semester, although one was due to a disagreement with my Health teacher.

Predicted Junior Schedule:
Latin IV H
AP Pre-Calc
Chamber Orchestra H
English H <--- Our school does not have an AP English program for Juniors
AP US History
AP Euro History
AP Physics B

Current Weighted GPA: 3.905
- This is relatively low due to a B I received in my Sophomore Health over a disagreement I had with my teacher
Our high school does not do class rankings.

EC's:
Speech Team - Captain
Latin Club (National Junior Classical League)
Muslim Student Association
Amnesty International
Church Leader/Volunteering
Cello - 10 years
Gymnastics - All through HS
Taekwondo - 2 years

As for volunteering, I'm planning on getting A LOT of hours this summer, but besides that I have only a few hours from playing the cello and volunteering with my church.
I also did some volunteer work overseas where I helped tutor underpriveleged high school students ~20-30 Hours

I played at the All-State Level for Cello, which is strongly recognized by colleges in my state, at least.

Other:
I'm an Asian-American male, born and raised in Illinois (Chicagoland). I don't know if this helps in any way?

The fact that you can admit that you’re not a stellar student does not help you because most of the kids that apply to these top schools know that they are among the best in the world competing with other kids who know they’re among the best in the world and think they can put up a good fight. Since you’re weighted GPA is 3.9, your unweighted (which is the one that matters) is probably around a 3.2-3.3, not helpful for UPenn and Northwestern and definitely not for Berkeley when you’re applying out of state. Also, for these schools, the trademark qualifier is the ACT/SAT. The people that get accepted to Berkeley from out of state proabably have about a 34 or 2250, Northwestern’s gotta be 33 or 2200, Georgetown’s probably 34 and 2250, and UPenn: probably a 35 and a 2300. You see, UPenn is extremely difficult because as a top notch Ivy, they like to admit kids that are smart AND interesting. So the applicant pool is laced with 34+'s, and 35’s are even pretty popular, but usually the kids that get accepted have founded an institution for funding Crohn’s disease, or have played soccer internationally, or are chess prodigy’s, or have a view on God that that they hope to spread to third world countries (interesting people). In my opinion, Northwestern’s probably your best shot and you’ve gotta look to get your unweighted GPA up to about a 3.7, your SAT/ACT to at least a 2180 and a 33, and improve your overall marketability. I’m a junior, and you can check my stats (and I’m not even applying to Penn or Northwestern):

Best of luck anyways!

I know it’s a tough shot, but thanks anyway for the input!

Wow, was just looking over my past posts…can’t believe it’s already been almost 4 years! Pulled up my GPA to a 3.8UW/4.2W and managed a 34 on the ACT…Now I’m a happy student at Northwestern. :D

Oh nostalgia… but congrats!!!

It would be really cool if you could chance me:
