In state or out of state for Berkeley? Also the UW GPA/SAT score will make all the schools a reach.

In state

The UC GPA needs to be calculated. @Gumbymom is the expert in these matters.

Class rigor is there but the SAT score is too low for T20 unless URM. What is the potential major?

Post capped weighted and fully weighted.

Maybe Berkeley. The others you mentioned are unrealistic given the stats and information you provided.

I agree with @sattut All of them are unrealistic except for berkeley, depending on major. Your stats are below average and ECs are pretty ordinary.

I mistyped SAT. Its 1440. Not sure if that makes a huge difference though

Capped weighted is 3.94.
Fully weighted is 4.75

@Hamurtle capped weighted GPA is 3.94, fully weighted is 4.75. SAT is 1440 (not 1420). Major of interest is cognitive science

should try UC Davis for that particular major

Some Freshman admit data based on UC capped weighted GPA and not major specific:

UC Capped Weighted 3.80-4.19:
UCB: 12.6%
UCLA: 11.7%
UCSD: 38.7%
UCSB: 53.6%
UCD: 56.5%
UCI: 52.1%
UCSC: 75.7%
UCR: 90.1%
UCM: 96.1%

Average UC capped weighted GPA for 6 out of the 9 campuses are 4.0+.

UC’s tend to be very GPA focused. Her SAT is within range for all the schools however on the lower end so these schools will be Reach to High Reach based on GPA.

College applications are not all about GPA and test scores, but academics are the first line in determining if an applicant can make the cut.

What are the other schools on her list? Even Mid-tier UC’s are not guaranteed. Hopefully these are her Reach schools and she has some Target and Safety schools already.

For Berkeley it’s going to be a low chance, probably 5%. Average UC capped GPA is 4.23 and median SAT I believe is around 1470. Can’t hurt to try though.

Yeh, I would apply to UCs. It is probably worth applying to Berkeley and UCLA, but you have a better chance at lesser ones. If cost is a big issue for whatever reason, you can apply to similar level OOS or private schools.

I agree with applying to a variety of UC’s . Can also consider Barrett Honors College at Arizona State U. They have a respectable psych program and do lots of interdisciplinary stuff.
