Freshman and Sophomore years - all classes either AP or Honors
Junior and Senior Years - Honors program at Kennesaw State University full time (commuted 60 miles a day to attend) / 3.9 GPA / 67 credit hours will be completed, will qualify for associates degree in fall 2017, a semester before graduating high school
Rigor - she took the absolute most difficult courses possibly available.

Essay - rock solid 8 out of 10. Two PHDs and 2 Judges in the family so her writting skills have been groomed almost from birth.
BioChem / Pre Med Major
I know EC are weak, but commute to University in Atlanta traffic + 5-6 classes each semester eats up most her days.
Thanks for feedback
As someone just ending this process for class of 2021 - here is some unsolicited advice. The chance me game both personal stats and reading stats of others will drive you crazy and lead to a ton of self doubt over the course of a very long application to decision season. Throw in deferrals and waitlist and the process can be overwhelming. At the end of the day everyone who applies is pretty well qualified or else they wouldnt apply. Outside of some decisions around ED or RD and putting time into essays there is not a ton left to do that is controllable on the part of your daughter. Admissions are holestic in nature and anyone who provides feedback is providing pure speculation based on a set of criteria they are not fully informed on re the entire process.
I only share this because I feel like wasted time and energy that could have been spent enjoying Senior year trying to predict and calm my concerns about what would happen. In fact my daughter did her part just as yours did getting great grades, challenging herself and working hard both inside and outside of the classroom.
From there trust the process and you may not get every accept that you want ( we didn’t) but you will find in the end your home. If you can do that and enjoy this last year together - I think you will be in a much better place come May of next year.
For me chance me threads and when do you think threads were anxiety producing situations that did nothing to help with the admission process. The great thing about UVA is Dean J keeps you updated on the process so when info is available - you are the first to know.
Congrats to your daughter - she has done awesome and I am sure will end up exactly where she is supposed to be next year.
I’m a little worried about the fact that your daughter’s test scores don’t line up with her GPA. Her grades are, quite frankly, freakishly good.
Her test scores, while good, are below the average for UVA(1420 and 30.5, SAT and ACT, respectively).
The disparity between the two is a significant red flag in the admissions community. It indicates that something is up. Maybe the school inflates grades (in your daughter’s case, unlikely, as she is 9/600) maybe it’s just an easier school, or maybe something else is happening, but regardless, the difference between the two raises some eyebrows.
For context, I had a 3.77 UW GPA, 4.5 Weighted, a 1550 new SAT, and a 35 ACT. My counselor warned me that my high scores and comparatively low GPA could work against me, because I could seem lazy, which was a fair accusation.
A 1500 SAT and 33 ACT would be ideal. Definitely get it above the average.
@alowishious Her SAT and ACT scores are a little below avg however since its only her first test and UVA superscores, I’m sure she can squeeze 30-40 points. A 1430 would be ideal just to make sure she meets the avg just in case it increases next year. Yes Her EC’s are week, Does she have a hook of any sort? If so she should be fine as of now.
If she raises her scores and apply’s early she should be fine, I would say High Match.
Standardized test scores are low. For out of state, UVA would be an extreme reach. Everyone has good grades; test scores differentiate.
