Essays and Recs should be good.

He's not planning to be recruited for sports.

Mostly concerned about low GPA and no stand out ECs.

nope. GPA is Yale’s most important requirement (thats what they say). no chance however smart he is. sorry NMF get full ride at Alabama tho! YAY! (thats what i did for my safety…)

he really does have no shot GPA is a prerequisite. it’s like going to a duel without a gun. you can have all the bells and whistles, but you’re gonna lose without the gun… however your friend is OBVIOUSLY a genius and will succeed in life.

Must be frustrating for your friend-he has good scores but was under the impression that his ECs would dazzle tippy top schools.
He will get into a good school though.
Hope he will try for a high gpa in college, he has the potential.

That GPA is extremely low. Unless he is a recruited athlete he doesn’t really have a chance despite the great test scores. No reason not to apply if you don’t mind spending time on the essays and paying hte fees.

Gpa is really low for HYPSM and rank is awful. Ecs are good and test scores are amazing but still a very low chance. But maybe caltech if science and math grades are good
