Chance my friend for these schools

<p>My friend is a rising senior that is asian, and he is aiming for (you guessed it) HYPSM</p>

<p>GPA: 4.2/4.6
He took
AP World (5), AP US (5), AP Stat (4), AP Bio (5)
His schedule is:
AP Calc BC
Honors Physics
AP Euro
AP English Lang and Comp
AP Spanish
Econ/Web Design</p>

<p>SAT: 800M 760CR 800 W 2360
SAT2s:740 math 2, 770 bio M, 780 world hist</p>

<p>awards: univeristy of chicago book award/ foreign language honor society/national spanish exam - silver/ cum laude/national merit commended

<p>I think they will consider him academically qualified.</p>

<p>He doesn’t look like an automatic rejection, but these schools see thousands of applications like his. At some point they become indistinguishable. I wouldn’t count on acceptances.</p>

<p>I’m sure he’ll get into some of these, but rejected at others. He is asian, so it will make it tougher. He has nice stats and ECs but nothing that will make him stand out at these top schools (I mean things like a 2400/36, an amazing EC/award, or a good hook). <p>If those activities are correct, are there really thousands of other applicants who are spending so much time on family responsibilities?</p>
