Hey everybody! I live in Georgia, and I go to a very competitive, private, religious school. So here are the stats:

GPA: 3.34 (UW), 3.65 (W) - would be higher, but my school factors in religion classes, and I got B's in those

9th - All honors and AP Human Geography (3), except for electives and religion
10th - All honors and AP WH (3), except electives and religion
11th - 2 APs - Stat (4) and US History (4) - took 2 science classes because my school offers no honors classes for 11th and 12th graders
12th - 5 APs - Lit, Calc BC, Gov, Psych, and Macroeconomics - 1 science course and the rest are electives

EC's

Colleges (applying/applied to some for my parents):

Applied:
UGA (accepted)
Georgia Tech (deferred)
Emory
USC
UCLA
UCSB
Vanderbilt
Fordham
Berkeley
U. of Miami
UNC - Chapel Hill

Applying to:
Stanford
Columbia
Duke
William & Mary
GWU
Cornell
NYU

I know I'm super crazy for applying to all these colleges with my stats, but please chance me anyways!

I think your GPA is pretty detrimental to your chances of applying to Stanford, Columbia, Duke, and Cornell. But who knows? Anything can happen. Write your essay and bet your chances on it. It won’t take out of you to apply to those schools (Well except for a couple of hundred of dollars). Go for it, And Best Wishes!.

There’s pretty much zero chance of you getting into Stanford, Columbia, Duke, or Cornell. It’s a waste of money, and you already have so many other schools.

Thanks for the encouragement, jbian777. And SgtDonut, I have a ton of schools, and I know that it’s a waste of money, but it’s my parent’s idea to apply to these schools and see how I do, not mine! I wish I didn’t have to slave over these applications and use my parents’ money, but it’s worth a shot anyway. Besides, my essays are apparently strong, so that could give me a shot. Do you guys have any assessments on the other schools?

Yeah, what is your class rank and SAT scores?

Assuming a logical top 15% and 2,000 SAT, and basing it off gTech’s decision:

Applied:
UGA (accepted)
Georgia Tech (deferred)
Emory - No
USC - No
UCLA - Small Maybe
UCSB - Probably
Vanderbilt - No No
Fordham - Small Maybe
Berkeley - No No
U. of Miami - Maybe
UNC - Chapel Hill - Maybe

Applying to:
Stanford - Save your money
Columbia - And
Duke - Donate
William & Mary - It
GWU - To
Cornell- Needy
NYU- People

Oh I forgot SAT/ACT scores. They are the things that give me a shot:
SAT: 640V, 630W, 710W
ACT: 34M, 34E, 31S, 32R, 9 - Essay, 33 - Superscored Comp (32 is regular comp)

Try applying to RPI, you have a possible chance there.

Send in your ACT only, it’s much better than your SAT scores.

Do you have an upward trend? That would help you a LOT if you wrote about how you grew and changed over the years.

I was pretty much in the same boat as you, with 3.5 GPA and a 2200 SAT. But I had some really good recs, essays, and ECs going for me.

You’re going to need quite a few safeties, I haven’t even considered applying to half the places on your list.

Oh yeah, not having a 5 on any of the APs you’ve ever taken doesn’t look to great either.

I have a friend with top 15% in a school that sends a dozen kids to ivies every year, 1540 SAT, got deferred by Case Western which is MUCH less competitive than over half the schools on your list. So yeah…
