i started off as a freshmen at a great liberal arts college and then transferred to UW because of their business. im debating moving up again.

hs (very good private school with difficult grading system)
total GPA: 3.3 (poor GPA because i slacked off alot and terribly regret it, also took advanced classes)
ACT: 28 (took it once without studying or anything and figured it was good enough, i will probably retake soon and know i can get 32+)
ECs: participated in varsity sports all four years (i was a jock and didnt concentrate too hard on school, again regretted)

college
freshmen GPA: 3.8 (still had some slacker in me at the beginning, then decided enough was enough and i turned it around)
sophomore GPA (expected) UW-Madison: 4.0
ECs: participating in 3 business clubs, played varsity bball as a freshmen at my first school, office job

just want to know what my chances are at an ivy league school or a top business school. i always knew i had the abilities to be an ivy leaguer, but i am just recently reaching that potential. all input is greatly appreciated.

UW-Madison is a fantastic school! Ace your classes at UW then get an MBA at an Ivy league school. Believe me, when you start working, no one is going to care where you went for undergrad.

i know that its a great school, im just worried about the job opportunities for traders in investment banking. thats my concentration and i hope to make it into a BB

Ah yes, the glory of investment banking and working on Wall Street. The jobs are super competitive. Are recruiters from investment banks active at UW? I can see your point...However, if you don't make it to an Ivy League school, having strong academic credentials from UW will allow other avenues to reach your goals. Have you thought of becoming a commodities trader? Major energy companies, such as BP and Chevron, have trading development programs for college graduates.

yes i have looked into it, however i am not sure exactly what type of trading i want to get into which is why i said trading in general. theres just something about wall street and BBs that make me want to be apart of it. i want to be with the best in the business. i know i can cut it, given the opportunity. im just not sure if the opportunity is at madison.

Would I at least have a chance at getting into a top school given my increasing GPA, EC's, and projected ACT?

It might help to post this on the transfer forum. It wouldn't have hurt if you got an internship at least. Internship>>>Club/Sports. Still, you have a good shot with your strong GPA. I agree with UCBChemEGrad, you should look into Ivies after undergrad.
