I'm wondering what some of you think. My daughter is very pessimistic about getting into UF. She doesn't fit their little mold perfectly as far as test scores per se, but her EC's which pertain to her . UF DOES take SOME students that aren't hi scoring testers, but well rounded, strong EC, etc....so ? there might be a chance...??

Whatdya think - see below

her:
3.8 GPA (unweighted) 4.02 weighted, 1720 (new way - adding all three- YES, I KNOW, NOT VERY HIGH)
ACT -25 (i know, not the highest either) but I think she has GREAT extracurriculars / volunteering - she eventually wants to be a vet so she has mega hours with an equine vet, small animal vet and many many hours with a small private barn.....and....IMHO, a pretty good essay (she hopes).
also...
National Honor Society, top 11% of her class, National Spanish Honor Society.

thanks....I know....she just has to wait.....

hi. I was not the original poster of any of those chance me threads. chill out
Others have started their own threads and I thought maybe someone else who was in the same position would appreciate the “chance me”.
There are already several chance me threads…I did comment on some of them (replys) but didn’t start them.

It seems I cut off a sentence in my post,(for those that are interested)
I meant to say that her EC’s directly relate to her intended field of study …(eventually) she wants to be a vet, so she has lots of hours devoted to animal care.

I’m sorry if I should have added my “chance me” to another thread, but I kinda thought it in a way it had a slightly different angle. Thats all.

I don’t have much to offer other than that my daughter has almost identical stats as yours:

3.46 UW, 4.02 W
1760 SAT, 25 ACT
Good ECs, etc.

Did you know that UF superscores the SAT (but not the ACT)? Your daughter can take it again – I think its offered in November-- and if any section of the new test is higher, they will use that section. Unless a student does great on a test, there is no reason not to take it againt. Besides, you can increase the Bright Futures funding if you can bring up a test score.

My daughter has already signed up, bought a study guide, and hopefully will pull a few extra points out of the test. (She gave up on the ACT – took it twice with identical scores-- its just too much of a time crunch for her. She thinks the SAT is easier.)

You probably knew this already, but I thought I’d throw it out there just in case. Good luck!

Hi, and yes, thanks…i know she can take it again, but just not doing it. She is so busy with school, work and everything else…it is what it is. She won’t be crushed if she doesn’t get in , she’ll just say “I told ya” LOL as she is pretty pessimistic about getting in.
