Chance of Admission to SMU

Hi everyone, I’m from Austin Texas and applied ED 1 to SMU. My GPA is a 3.26, my SAT is 1300, and I’ve had a pretty uniform performance all years of high school and took majority AP Classes. My school is super competitive and I’m barely in the bottom 50% of my classes (top 10% is a minimum of 4.23)

My letters of reccomendation were good, and my extracurriculars are really good: President of Student Council, Class Officer, Debate Captain, Art Club President, JSA Chapter President, and an elected member on AISD District Advisory Board.

My question is, despite my less than stellar performance in the classroom and slightly below average SAT scores wanted for SMU do you think my extra curricular activities and personal statement will put me over the edge and get me accepted?

Thank you all for reading, and good luck to everyone!

TLDR; Below average grades, average SAT, above average extra curricular activities.

That should say Early Action not Early Decision

Have you applied for financial aid? I know a girl at my old high school with a similar gpa, little to no extracurriculars, but she could pay pretty well the first few years and some qualifications for financial aid would pull the rest of tuition the last few years. Since she got in with some scholarship money, I think you’ll be fine
