Chance of an international applicant getting off the waitlist?

Is there ANY chance of an international applicant getting off the wait list if he/she needs 100% aid? Has it EVER happened? :P

Think about it like this: if a college was absolutely sure that they would not admit you, why would they waitlist you? They’ve got nothing to gain, except if they might want to admit you under some set of circumstances. Good luck!

I hope it happens, I’ve also been wait listed (princeton). Good luck!

Thank You b@r!um for your positive response amidst of all negative responses that I am getting! :D

All the best @TiagoCorreia :)

@Tiago…how many documents did you send to Princeton?

At a school like Princeton, it could happen. Don’t count on it but money won’t be the issue if they go to the waitlist. They use the waitlist to get the distribution they want in the class. So if you’re from India and a low income Indian turned them down for Harvard, they’ll review the low income Indians on their list.

Johnie, what do you mean by documents? I sent them what was required on their application process.

Ty Pripan :)

I got off the waitlist yesterday at Mount Holyoke, $55,000 in aid, my family need only come up with $1850 and travel expenses. Hang in there!

Tiago, did you send them a letter to reiterate your continuous interest, summarize briefly your qualifications and any updates, and state why Princeton would be the best fit for you, what is so unique there that will compliment your interests. If you have not done it yet, write it and email it ASAP.
