Hello. I know that Mechanical Engineering is a major that consists of mostly males and VERY few females. I myself actually want to pursue in taking this major in college, especially at CCNY(City College of New York). 2-3 years ago, I was thinking of going into Computer Engineering but then I started thinking about going into an art school. Now it's my senior year and I finally decided that I want to go for mechanical. I love to design models in my sketchbook and create new things physically and mentally during my spare time. Math is my favorite subject in school and physics is really interesting to me (although I had bad teachers in physics and chemistry so I didn't learn much and had to study through books). What chance is there for me getting into that field?

What is your GPA/SAT/ACT score? ECs? Did you take any SAT IIs(Some require them)?

My GPA is 3.4. My SAT is very low (1550) but I want to try taking the ACT. I’m just not a very good test taker. My math was the highest though. For extra things, I have been in the volleyball team, I participated in the science olympiad in my school, I went to a science expo at NYU to present a project that I worked with a group mates in my science class, I am in 2 clubs (art club and newspaper club), and I help teachers after school. Do they actually care about these? I didn’t take any SAT II and the one that I mostly want to go to (CCNY) does not require it.

Because you are girl and you want to do engineering I am sure you will get in somewhere.
