Hey All! My name is Jerry and I am from Asia. My family moved to the states last year and I will be graduate soon. I’ve applied to several mid-tier/mid-high-tier universities including UW. To be honest, I used to be a complete “bad” student in my high school, getting the lowest grades, having no extra curriculars, and often causing troubles. But since 9th grade, I’ve been actively improving myself academically, socially, and mentally to the extent that I’ve been placed into the top 10% students in my high school back in Asia.
Gpa at 9th grade: 3.46
Gpa at 10th grade: 3.11 (the reason it dropped so much is because I had a hard time overcoming my fever so I missed a lot of classes)
Gpa at 11th grade: 3.78 (progressively improved English made me stand out in my class and my teachers were impressed). In 10th grade, I had been the top 1 student in my class and earned numerous awards from both my high school and other competitions (such as speech,mathematics etc.) outside of my school.
Here is the thing: When I moved to the states, my dad placed me in a private high school and unfortunately, they did not allow me to become a senior and I was forced to enroll as a junior once again. I did great in the first semester but my grades gradually dropped because of some family issues(mom wants to divorce, dad’s job is at stack etc.) This caused me to get depressed and I was not able to focus on my studies. I eventually dropped out of my high school for 6 months and enrolled in a public high school as a senior.
After such, my junior gpa was recalculated (2.88).
My overall is 2.94
My highest sat score: 1250 (new)
And I took 4 ap classes but did not take the tests(i got a- and b+ on my aps)

I’ve been to several model united nations and served as a chair in general assembly once
I was in my high school’s ultimate frisbee team for 1 year
I was YMCA’s international volunteer
I’ve severed as a cultural volunteer at many elementary schools back in Asia
I’ve been to debate competitions and has joined HOBY Youth Camp
I know many people would say it would be impossible for me to get admitted because my sat score is mediocre and my gpa is disastrous but I do think I get a chance whatsoever. I’ve explained in my essays about why my gpa was low and how hard it was for me to get used to learning things in English. What are my chances to get admitted? Guys I really hope I could get in :(( ?
