Chance of getting in

Hi All,

I'm a junior in high school, and I'm thinking about applying to Stanford next year. I was wondering what you all thought my chances of getting in might be. My SAT/AP selection isn't the best, but I have a strong passion for computer science and have many extracurriculars relating to that. I'm going to work on pulling up my SAT though as I have one more year before applying.

Thanks for your time!

Class: Junior (possibly applying next year)
Class Rank: Top 10%
GPA: 4.0 Unweighted, 4.9 Weighted (as of end of sophomore)
SAT: 1990 (760 Math, 600 Reading, 630 Writing) (I'm a junior, so still have time to improve on this, taking the ACT soon too)

Extracurricular Activities:
-Secretary, Computer Science Club
-Senator, Student Government (running for treasurer this year)
-DECA
-Chambers Society
-Chemistry Tutor
-Volunteer with Teen Court and a local animal shelter.

-Taekwondo & Hapkido, for over 10 years - 2nd Degree Black Belt
-Violin, for over 10 years (in the Chamber Orchestra too)

-I'm a full-stack developer at various other companies/projects.

Current AP Classes:
AP World
AP Environmental Science
AP Statistics

APs next year:
AP Spanish
AP Calc BC
AP Lit
AP Physics <-- maybe

If you're wondering why I'm not taking AP Computer Science - I already know Java, so I'd rather take the time to learn new programming languages rather than have an extra AP credit.

Thanks again!

If you bring up your SAT score and do well on two to three subject tests you’ll be a competitive applicant. The problem is Stanford accepts so little people that it’s a potshot for everyone, there is no shoe-in. So yes, you should apply! You’d definitely be competitive.
