Chance of getting into choice college with an F

I failed Geometry during my first semester of sophomore year. The F shows up on my transcript. I got an A during the second semester and when I retook the class junior year. How will this affect my chances of being admitted to colleges such as University of Minnesota, University of Cincinnati, University of Oregon, and University of Connecticut? My GPA is 3.3 and I got a 29 on the ACT. This year, I am taking College Algebra and AP Human Geography, and I have an A in both. Those are the only higher-level classes that I have taken. Will I be able to get accepted to any of the schools that I mentioned with the F on my transcript?

It will reflect badly but you maintained a decent GPA despite the F. A 3.3 is low but it’s not that bad. A 29 ACT score is also really great. I do think that some of these schools will consider you, but you may be deferred from schools like Minnesota. If you explained why you got an F in your essay or personal statement it would have helped slightly so they know what went wrong.

Some other information that might be helpful:
I am in the top half of my class (75/160).
I live in South Dakota. (Will that help me get into U of M?)
Neither of my parents went to a 4-year college; they both went to 2-year schools.
I’ve been an FFA member for 4 years and played club lacrosse for 3. Also, I recently started volunteering at the food bank. Those are my only extracurriculars, though.

Everyone gets into Oregon. You’ll be ok.
