Chance of getting into Hopkins ED?

I really, really want to go to JHU. I will apply early decision since this will increase my chances. What are my chances of getting in and getting some form of financial aid? **If it costs more than 30k after need-based/merit aid I probably can't attend...

Ranked 10 of 234, top 5%

Reccomendations:
One will be REALLY good, I'm not sure who I will ask to write the other, but it will also be good. Might also ask adult from my service club to write one, or my track coach.

Essays:
Will be good. I am a good writer.

Also, I have 3 important questions:

Will applying under a political science major increase my chances, since a lot of the activities I do have to do w/ government?

**I'm afraid that my course load may not be good enough compared to other applicants. During senior yr, should I take another AP (I want to take AP Gov since that is my best subject) or should I just self-study to get the credit?

Should I take an AP instead of Community college class or are both equal to colleges? I'd prefer to take the CC because the class is interesting to me.

I really appreciate any answers!! :)

Bump !

Definitely do it. You’re a very strong applicant, perfect for ED (especially since you already have a near-perfect GPA and thus don’t need first semester senior year grades to bump it up). Go for it!! :)

Very good chance with 32+ ACT or 2100+ SAT, especially ED.

Yes, if you write about it in the essays.

Your course load is fine but AP Gov would look good because it complements the government activities.

Nah, take the CC class if it interests you. Why are you taking AB and BC at the same time though? Is that the norm at your school?

Thanks for the opinion/ advice! Yeah, at our school you have to take both calcs at once.
So you don’t think one more AP class will make a significant difference?

Go for Early Decision! Just know that if you cannot go due to financial circumstances, you run a high risk of getting blacklisted by peer colleges. Early Decision should not be taken lightly as a decision if you think affordability might be a problem.

Then again, if you are in dire financial need and they can see that, they will probably give you money. The people who are the most unfortunate, however, are the middle class applicants.

You have solid chances. Just think Early Decision through.

Chance me!

I applied ED and was rejected, but my friend with stats similar to yours was admitted (not ED though).

You should definitely give it a shot! But make sure you research a lot about JHU before you decide to apply ED–I personally was glad I was not accepted after I read about how unhappy some of the students were.
