Guestimate a rank or we can’t do anything.

The university is going to do just that–use the data and GPA distributions your school releases and estimate a rank for you.

Well they dont release like anything but im definitly top 15% to be conservative, probably top 10% but like I said they release nothing and all I have to go off is talking to people

I think if you get a good ACT, you are right in the middle of the mix. If they continue to admit a lot of OOS kids like last year, then you are in decent shape. This past year they doubled the amount of OOS admissions. Some believe, that it was a one time event… I have been led to believe that they may continue with that number. It provides the school with more revenue, and continues their efforts to increase their national reputation. As for OOS class rank, it is not held to the same exacting standard as the in state, legislative enacted, 10% rule. My daughter was not in the top 15% and got in. Good Luck.

I guess the best way to put it is that applying to Texas OOS is a toss up, even with a solid resume

Your ECs are solid but nothing spectacular.

Also, what is your SAT or ACT essay section score–that’s a good way to estimate how well you will score on your UT essays.

I took the SAT and did HORRIBLE-1210/1600 1840- I got a 9 on my essay, but dont judge me off that I’ve already out performed my score ACT wise on my first full practice test timed and all out of “The Real ACT Test Prep”.

9/12 on the essay would be a roughly 4.5 out of 6 average on the UT essays. It’s hard to guess your essay score exactly, but it’s easiest to use the SAT/ACT writing as a standardized scale to base it on.

Some people can outperform themselves when they spend weeks working on a college essay, but most kids will put the same amount of effort into the essays, so SAT/ACT is a good measure of natural writing ability.

This is going to put you in a decent position on the chart, but nothing excepti0nal. Try to really work on the essays to have a solid shot.

Ya im gonna put lots of time into the essay, get some help from a friend of mine with a PHD in Chemistry and a Major in English
