<p>Courses: Here is where the main problem lies. During freshmen and sophmore year, i slacked off. A LOT. But by junior year, I realized that my lack of motivation and care will not get me far in life (let alone into college) so I really began to work hard and my grades improved exponentially</p>

<p>So please chance me? I realize that I'm asian, andmy academics aren't that great , but I'm hoping that my extracurricular and involvement in art balances that out? And in terms of my grades, ive improved it and im continuing to improve it throughout senior year, so would they see my upward trend? I'm not a great standardized test taker - yea, i know. it's BS, but true. notice the huge difference between the standardized US History SAT II opposed to the AP US History exams - i know, weak excuse. im not writing that, but its true and I'm working really really hard to enahnce my test-taking abilities</p>

<p>getting into any program in AAP is tough. for art, there are 35 in the class. your scores seem kind of low...your portfolio better be rocking, thats really going to make or break you</p>

<p>im also applying to risd, but i feel that while risd may offer an intense variety of art majors, it's also restricting because I am not able to take other courses that i may be interested in (without cross-registering with brown)</p>

<p>your stats are good and it sounds like you're a good artist. i think you have a good chance. just make sure you're willing to pay 45k+ a year when you can be at RISD or other more prominent art schools for a lower price tag.</p>

<p>i don't know much about the AAP program at cornell and how competitive they are, but if you were just a regular applicant, i'd say you have a good chance</p>

<p>if AAP is so competitive, should i just apply CAS and transfer to AAP? or is that not allowed?</p>

<p>it's really hard to accept transfers into architecture (i'm sure it's similar in art) because they can't accept too many students in the first place...and no one seems to be dropping out. last year only 2 people transferred into my class out of 80 applicants.</p>

<p>I noticed you mentioned that you weren't going to submit some of your SAT II scores. That's not possible. Every test you've taken with the college board gets submitted - every single score. You can't pick and choose.</p>

<p>As for your chances of getting in....
keep in mind that the College of AAP is the most selective at Cornell - 22.4% most recently. I think your chances are pretty slim. I know for AAP, they let your grades, portfolio, and interview (if available) all count equally. So although your portfolio may be awesome, so many other people in the US most likely have portfolios that are just as good. And those applicants probably didn't slack off at the beginning of their high school careers. With admissions being so selective, anything that can count against you most certainly will. And even though you have an upward trend, your cumulative GPA is probably still low in comparison to others; a student with an upward trend still doesn't look as good as a student with a consistently excellent record.</p>

<p>I think that if you had applied ED,you would have had a great shot. I think you still do, but you need start getting active, show AAP that you are really interested.</p>
