I am going to agree with stepay. You have such a strong application (and I am incredibly jealous) and I am certain that you will get into a good chunk of your schools. I believe most are matches (some maybe slightly higher than others) except the Ivies and Stanford only because you never really know if you’ll be accepted or not. I was also deferred from UChicago and am hoping to be accepted in the spring (we have about the same GPA but my ACT is only a 31) I wish you the best of luck! I’m sure you’ll end up at an amazing school.
I would love more opinions. I will chance back!!
u didnt chance me back…
Your GPA is the only thing really holding you back. But since it’s mainly your freshman transcript that’s mucking it up, you shouldn’t worry too much about it.
If you applied engineering to some of these schools then your chances may go down slightly, if not more. That being said, you have a strong application regardless. Your breadth of extracurricular activity is matched with depth. This is always a good thing. You’re applying to a lot of UCs as an OOS applicant so that won’t be too much in your favor, but as I’ve said already, you’re a strong applicant.

Note that your chances at these schools are good as a regular applicant. However, I had to take into consideration that you applied for engineering. I mean all of these schools have such highly coveted engineering spots and boast some of the best engineering programs in the world. Your GPA and subject tests are going to count against you because engineering is so academically aggressive in terms of test scores. You’ll be up against kids who have perfect GPAs and test scores, but your ECs should compensate for a bit of that.
Whether the adcoms will view you as a more well-rounded student or as a student lacking in the typical traits of an ideal engineering candidate is up to them.
Best of luck!
@BlankFusion i applied physics. i applied engineering to purdue and mn, where i have been accepted.
@showmestate700 Lol.
Then make each chance go up one.
ex.) Low Reach —> High Match | Reach —> Low Reach | High Match —> Match
etc…
EXCEPT FOR: Stanford, Cornell, and Princeton. These schools are still reaches.
You should clearly get into all your match schools. I also think you have a pretty good chance at Duke, NorthWestern, Carnegie, and UVA. The rest are very possible reaches. Nice stats dude!
@0br0123 thank you man, not as good of a GPA as yours however haha. i feel my depth of ecs help
Holy crap, the amount of colleges you applied to. You probably paid a college’s tuition in college apps alone haha. I’m not familiar with all of them so I’ll rate the ones I am familiar with.
- UCB - Match

Your music EC aspect is really great, almost makes me sad that you aren’t majoring in it. It’ll also definitely help with college admissions and sorta make up for the GPA. The 3.6 GPA is pretty low, especially for the nationally ranked top 10 schools but if it’s due to the music thing, I’m sure the chance will go up. Good Luck!

Bumpppp
Shameless bump
You look set for most of these to be honest lol
That’s a lot of School. Your GPA is really really low for someone who is applying to the Ivys. That will hurt you a lot. Your music the royal conservatory thing does not hold any significant meaning as an EC unless you’ve thrived up into the highest level.
You do not have that much of meaningful ECs actually. You did not actually get an internship anywhere besides being a tutor. You are only a VP in one club, and you do not have that many engineering related ECs as well.
So in conclusion, your stats, both GPA and EC wise are not outstanding. What makes you different from the other pools of applicants?

@Natnat28 now that u know im a freshman could you chance me again?
it still wouldn’t differ by much, your GPAs are way too low and your APs aren’t THAT stellar either. You would probably get into UIUC, UW and the UCs (other than Cal and probably LA). But other than that, unless you have really really great interview and a really engaging and personal essay to back it up with, I would say that Ivys are all out of reach.
chance me back too?
