Hey! I'm a rising junior from Texas...For my junior year I will be going to TAMS (Texas Academy of Math and Science), which is a residential program where students live on the campus of the University of North Texas, and take college classes. Do u guys have some suggestions...any advice.. please help me instead of saying stuff like oooo it's too early... i dun care... i pretty much had fun in my freshman year pretty much partying wit friends and have enjoyed myself in general... now i wanna actually work.
Are you applying as a prospective freshman or transfer student?

I am a high school rising junior so I am applying to be a freshman....TAMS is a special residential high school where u get to take college courses

Are you 100% sure that doesn't make you a transfer student when you apply?

Should I apply for freshman or transfer admission?
You should apply as a freshman applicant if:

* you are currently enrolled in high school, or
* you are concurrently enrolled in high school and college/university, or
* you have completed high school and are enrolled in college/university on a part-time basis and have accumulated fewer than 26 semester or 39 quarter units of transferable course credit by the time you transfer.

You should apply as a transfer applicant if:

* you have been enrolled full-time in college/university after leaving high school, or
* you have attended college/university on a part-time basis and you have accumulated 26 or more semester or 39 or more quarter units of transferable course credit.

Please contact our office if your circumstances do not fall under either of these instances and you are still uncertain about which application status to use.

Yes I am 100% sure... TAMS is still considered a high school. It's sorta like a magnet high school...it's this special math and science high school for gifted ppl. You go to TAMS for your junior and senior year where u take all college classes, which also counts as high school and college credit. So... ur supposed to come out wit 2 years of high school credit and 2 years of college credit in ur junior and senior years, but top colleges don't accept all credit. But they give credit for some of the courses. And I could take placement tests etc. if i felt that I am qualified enought, but courses at top colleges generally go waaay into depth.

Can u please tell me if I am on the rite track, what is missing, and what I should do?

Any advice is appreciated.

I'm familiar with TAMS enough to know that he won't be a transfer student. It's basically a state-wide magnet high school.

Can you guys please give me my chances or some advice? I haven't really received anything yet. Calling all Stanford students, parents, high school students, etc. that think they can chance me.

Please chance me. I need your help!

Sure, things look good, but your only halfway through high school. You'll want to continue to build your EC's, the band stuff will really help you if you go the distance with it, but you'll also need some other stuff as well. The majority of those clubs you listed seem like they could potentially be just fluff in the eyes of an AO. What exactly will the physics competitions you listed entail?

bump... (10 char)

You seem to be in good shape. Your transcript will be strong (top 1-2% is great!) and your test scores will be good. The GPA is far more important than the test scores though, so be sure to keep that up your junior and senior year. If you continue to pursue band and are able to do some good physics research, those look like they'd be very strong ECs.

Thank you! Any more advice? Chances?
