I dunno if this is really a hook but it should be close..
I went to school in India for the first half of high school and yeah it was crazy tough there. I pulled off a 92% on the final nationwide examinations before moving back here, which was excruciatingly difficult painful. And then after moving back I pretty much pulled together the rest of my application. I'm a US citizen btw.

Academics:

GPA: 4.0 UW (I go to a US News top 50 public high school)

Rank: 65/400+ (this probably shouldn't be taken into consideration as my classes from india were weighted as normal classes. my counselor is writing me a note)

SAT:

first attempt: 1980 (M: 680 W:690 CR:610)
second attempt in October: 2200+ (M:750+ W:800 CR:720+)
(this is probably the case considering I scored over 2200 on the last 6 blue book tests)

SAT Subject Tests:
Math II: 750 (going to be retaking this along with physics and chem in November, expecting 800 in Math and 720+ in the other two)

AP:
Took 5 APs junior year:
5 AP Calc AB, 5 AP Stats, 4 AP Physics B, 4 AP US History, 2* AP Chem (I'm deleting this one, not sure what happened...)

Senior Schedule:
AP Comp Sci
(AP) Advanced Calculus
AP US+ Comparative Government
AP Literature
AP Biology
AP Micro+Macro Econ
AP Physics C
I will probably be taking health online and PE after school 2nd semester..
**Note: I really need to get in ED, since my grades are tanking, definitely not going to come out with a 4.0 this time.

Extracurriculars:
**Note: I did most of this in the two years I have been back.

-(11,12) Investment Club (President 12): We do a lot here, mainly learn about stocks & other securities and compete in a virtual stock market.

-(11,12) Washington Student Finance Association (Co-Founder and Vice-President): A student run group that promotes the field of finance to students in the local area. Basically, this organization is a network of finance/investment clubs. We've started about three or four clubs at other schools in the local area. We have a senior advisory board, comprising local professionals, as well as some corporate sponsors. We are also in the process of registering for non-profit (501 c3) certification.

-(11,12) Volunteering for a non-profit called Student Research and Development (Relations Manager):
This is a student run non profit group, that holds a 501c3 certification. The mission statement of the organization is to inspire students to learn more about science and technology, through the operations of an open workspace, with resources such as computer software, powertools, etc. I am in the Business Relations team; our job is to receive funding from corporations and organizations. I have written my share of grants, letter, etc. I also sometimes participate in the tech activities and I've definitely learned a lot.

-(9,10,11,12) Peer Tutoring: I have had quite a bit of experience with this, but only my volunteer hours junior and senior years have counted.

-Math Club (11,12)

-Robotics (11,12): Really helped cultivate my interest in computer science. I am interested in the ways computer science can be used in finance/investing.

-Washington Business Week: This is a summer program I attended between my junior and senior year.

-School Basketball team 9th and 10th grade (didn't have the time to play here, probably don't have the ability either haha)

-Tutor at Kumon Learning Center*** (have not gotten this job yet but this is something I want to do and I am sure I can get it)

-Total of 220+ hours of community service (only the hours from junior and senior year count)

Awards (seriously lacking on this part):
-AP Scholar with Honor
-community service award from my school for exceptional service

My intended major is Computer Science (2nd choice would be Financial Engineering), and I am trying to demonstrate my interest in computer science and finance in my application.

So I would really love to hear what you guys think my chances are for Columbia SEAS ED. If you can, please offer suggestions as well. Also please don't hesitate to tell me if you feel there are other schools that would really suit me. Thanks for the help!!
