Below are school she is interested to apply -Dartmouth, U Mich, Vilanova, Boston C, Bowdoin, Georgetown and WasU at st.louis. She would like to major in pol sci or neuroscience
Would like to know what you think about these schools and maybe suggest a plan on how to apply to have best result.
Thank you in advance!
Does she want to row in college? If so, has she contacted coaches? That would be the first thing I’d suggest. Do you know her stats? (wingspan, Erg times, weight)? Would she be OW or LW? How does she feel about rowing at a D1 school vs. a D3?
The schools on her list are almost all stretches without rowing, but may be matches if she’s recruited. I would suggest looking for some match and likely schools in case the recruiting route doesn’t work out.
Can you daughter take the Math 2 subject test instead of the Math 1 subject test? Math 1 is sort of seen as a joke in my opinion. If your daughter is competitive at rowing have her reach out to coaches at the schools she likes
We are at New York. Based on several school’s COA calculator, we will be paying full price.
She is passionate about rowing and planning to row in college regardless in team or in club. She is lightweight (only 110 pounds and 5’4).I don’t have her states but will ask her to speak with her coach.
She is not interested in engineering so we thought Math 1 is good enough. Will speak to her about Math 2.
The fact that she’s a LW complicates the recruiting picture because of the schools on her list I believe only Georgetown has LW boats. I assume she’s not a coxswain or you would have mentioned that. Wingspan equates roughly to height so what you really need now is her official 2K erg time(s).
WUSTL, Dartmouth, and Georgetown will be the toughest for her to get into (about the same level of difficulty of admission between these three, academically speaking).
Michigan will be the next toughest for her.
Bowdoin is right after Michigan.
Then, BC and Villanova.
This is not considering any athletic recruitment, legacy, hooks, etc.
