Chance This Kid!

^ Well, if you get into U Penn Wharton, it would be tough to turn down IMO...but, if it doesn't light your fire, that's important to consider.

UCI does have a business program...it's nothing special though.
UCR is not worth coming OOS for. You have a great choice in UT Austin and 4-6 hours away, IMO, is a good distance.

Good luck!

Wow...All that stuff I did to get OOS... well since I made the top 10% i guess it really doesn't matter...
we'll see what comes...I hope I can get into MIT :D, but thanks you really settled me down... you have no idea...I can actually think now...wow...
so what about UCI's Business program? does it really stink?
does UCD have one? I was thinking of applying there but then I decided not to because I couldn't find info on whether they have a business school.
Maybe I should go to UM...if I get accepted...my grandparents live by there, I've toured the Campus but I can't remember it at all I was so young and my dad was showing us around.

UT-Austin is a good deal IMO.
UCI has a decent business program, but it's not on the level of UT, USC, UMich, and Berkeley...I would not pay an OOS premium for UCI business when you have better, potentially cheaper options.

UMich is great. They have a larger OOS population than the UCs and it's easier to get into for OOS than the upper-tier UCs. However, I hear it is quite expensive for OOS and I'm not sure how their financial aid is.

Typically, if you're looking OOS, private schools are often a better value because, (1) they are usually more generous with financial aid for OOS students, and (2) you don't have tons of in-state students paying a cheaper tuition for the same education you're getting.

If I were in your shoes, I'd realistically be expecting to get into UT-Austin, UMich and USC. UPenn, MIT, Berkeley, and UCLA are going to be tougher to gain admission. I would not consider UCI or UCR for OOS. Did you apply to Davis? I respect Davis more, but I still don't think it's worth paying an OOS premium given your potential in-state options.

So, in recap for business:
1. U Penn (but crapshoot for admission)
2. MIT (also crapshoot for admission, but likely to have pretty good financial aid)
3. Berkeley (crapshoot for admission, financial aid is less generous to non-existant for OOS, have to apply to Haas in junior year and no guarantees)
4. UCLA (crapshoot for admission, financial aid less generous, can't formally major in business - major is biz-econ)
5. UT-Austin (IS tuition bargain, far enough from home, great college town, top business program)
6. UMich (more forgiving OOS admissions chances than UCs, top business program, could be more expensive, family ties, strong alumni base)
7. USC (more forgiving OOS admissions, good business program, likely more generous with financial aid for OOS, strong alumni base in LA)
8. Texas A&M (definitely on-par and cheaper than UC Irvine and UC Davis, strong alumni base)
9. UCR, UCI (don't consider...IMO not worth OOS tuition given your other in-state options).

Good luck! When you get your acceptances, let me know if you need additional help/opinion.

oh... see...
I just re read everything and think I had a typo or something...but I don't need financial aid my parents make quite bit :)...LOL
I did not apply to UCD, but i was thinking. How is it, am I missing something?
I'll hope for MIT, but UT is good, which I knew but have sort of been in Denial...
I'm turned off by Berkeley's Business program, but if I get accepted I still might give it a shot..
I'm really crossing my fingers for MIT now though...I'll give you an update when I get my acceptance letters...speaking of which, I sent my application a while ago...when Am i supposed to receive the results.

^ UCs and other colleges should start notifying you on decisions late this month. Berkeley's decision is supposed to be March 27th. I think USC and other privates will be around the same time, but could extend into early April.

It's too late to apply to Davis. That's OK, though, because it's not as good as UT-Austin for business and engineering.

If you want to really go to Berkeley and you don't get in, you could apply to Haas business school as a transfer student during your sophomore year. Just be sure to complete the required courses:
Undergraduate Program - Admissions - Haas School of Business
Undergraduate Program - Admissions - Haas School of Business

Thanks ^^! I'll look into that...

I wasn't aware UCD even had a business program...
thanks UCB, you have been AWESOME help.

My little brother(he's Freshman but he over my shoulder right now) is also considering Business and like me is considering the UC system. What UC Schools have Majors in Business?

anyways...more opinions? never can have too many? rip me to sheds...there is nothing I can do now :)
