Chance: UCD, Cornell CALS, Tufts :)

Hello!

Some info:
Female, from FL (so out-of state for all my top choices), 1/4 Mexican- on common app listed as hispanic, white. Don't know if that matters but whatever, including it.
Wherever I go I will probably major in animal science or a related major if there is no animal science (zoology, biology, etc.)

GPA (end of junior year, UW): 3.95

My school does not weight, and uses a standard 4.0 system. We aren't ranked, which it says on the transcript, but I would guess I am at least in the top 5%.

All A's in the following courses except the 8th grade Pre-algebra credit (required credit, that's why it's there) which was a B.
All courses are Honors except if an AP or if there was only one class offering/honors N/A.
* means taken online at FLVS

8th:
Pre-Algebra H

9th:
Geometry H
Chinese II H
Spanish I H
English I H
Biology H
Ancient World History H
HOPE* (health/PE, FL required credit)- .5 credit

10th:
Chemistry H
Algebra I H
Chinese TA- P/F class, Pass
English II H
AP Chinese
Video Production
Molecular Biology/Genetics
Forensic Science*- .5 credit

11th:
US History H
AP Chem
Advanced Chinese (one-on-one class)
Pre-Calc (or Trig) H
AP English Lang & Comp
Physics H
Intro to medicine seminar- P/F, P. Will likely include as EC or activity

My course load for senior year should be:
AP Calc AB, AP Lit, AP Bio, Advanced Chinese II, Personal Finance, Econ, American Gov't, Anatomy & Physiology, and Social Sciences (tentative since I didn't even pick that class).

Sorry if that was a lot. Now, I have only taken the ACT once, and that was technically my "trial" test- I will retake in the fall, and with the reviewing I've done I predict at least one or two points up in my comp.

Composite: 31
English: 34
Math: 25
Reading: 34
Science: 30
Writing/English score: 32
Writing score: 10

Again, I will probably get the math to at least a 29-30, and raise the science and maybe english/reading, but chance regarding these scores anyway, please.
I also took the SAT, but I only got a 2010, so I'm going to stick with my ACT in applications.
And none of my choices require SAT II's.

Main EC's:

Secretary of Student Council: 12th grade
Swim team female captain: 11th & 12th grade (on team 9th-12th, but not notable athlete...)
Crew Team founder & captain: 12th grade

MMLA Chinese immersion course (Summer 2012): 4 weeks, speaking only in mandarin, taking daily classes in language, etc.

Internship in Amazon rainforest (Summer 2013): 4 weeks, daily field work, worked one-on-one with researcher working on dissertation. Helped a lot in data collection- aka, didn't just make the coffee ;)

Cornell Equine Medicine Summer Course (This summer!): 3 weeks of college-level classes, hands-on work with horses, etc. Don't have all the details, but it sounds intensive & informative.

There's also volunteer work, but that's not as important.

Thank if you read this whole thing! I wanted to be brief but helpful...
My main concern is whether I should ED at CALS- I'm intimidated by the binding aspect of it, but it really is my top choice/ my biggest reach. If you have any insight on ED, and if you can chance me for Tufts, CALS, and UC Davis, thanks!
(And I have other safeties/low matches chosen, but I won't include them.)

Can you afford to pay out of state tuition?

Oh, and ¼ hispanic doesn’t really go far in California, which has 51% full hispanic majority. You may be able to get into Davis at full fee. (California is out of money, so OOS pay $50K) No significant financial aid for OOS students.

Yes, money isn’t a main concern. I figured I would end up with full fee…

If CALS is your top choice, then apply ED! It will be binding, so don’t do it if you aren’t 100% sure. CALS is great for animal science. Your internship in the Amazon and your Cornell summer course will look really great on your application. Coming to Cornell this summer will also probably help you decide whether or not to do ED.
