Chance YOURSELF!

Post schools that you are applying to and your OWN chances to be accepted. This is just a test of confidence of a sort.

Let me start

Penn - 30 % if I play my cards right.
Columbia - Crapshoot, 5%.
Cornell - 40 %, maybe a little better if I do great on the interview and essays.

USC - 70%
UC Berkeley - 70%
UC San Diego - 98%

(My schools so far)
Clark-85%
Rutgers-99%
TCNJ- 85%
Tulane-75%
University of Delaware- 90%
University of Maryland-85%

Not bad. That's some confidence there. Bump?

Amherst: 55%
W&M: 60%
Columbia GS: 90%
Cornell: 30%
Georgetown: 85% with a nom, 35% without
Middlebury: 30%
Smith: 80%
UC Berkeley: 70%
UCLA: 70%
UPenn: 10%
U Richmond: 60%

UVA: 5%
Clemson: 15%
VT: 30%
Mason: 80%

I don't mean to put you down, but I would like to know what makes you think you have a 55% chance at getting into Amherst, but only a 30% chance at Cornell, and a 10% chance at Penn. Here are some numbers for Amherst, Cornell, and Penn. BTW, if you don't believe in CB's stats, I invite to look at the transfer admit stats on each college's website.

Amherst College ~ 5.6% admit rate

Number of transfers who applied for fall term: 412

Number of transfers who were admitted for fall term: 23

College Search - Amherst College - Admission

Cornell University ~ 27.5% admit rate

Number of transfers who applied for fall term: 2,918

Number of transfers who were admitted for fall term: 801

College Search - Cornell University - Admission

Penn ~ 16.8% admit rate

Number of transfers who applied for fall term: 2,190

Number of transfers who were admitted for fall term: 367

College Search - University of Pennsylvania - Penn - Admission

As you can see, transferring into Amherst is a complete and utter crapshoot. What makes you think your chances are so high with a 5% admit rate? For that matter, why are your chances higher at Amherst than Cornell or Penn.

Again, I'm not trying to put you down, I'm just genuinely curious. I know the school has some sweet deals with the local CC's, but I thought you attend a California CC? Does Amherst have some sort of agreement with California CC's as well?

Good question... 90% at Columbia? I wish you all the best, but I wonder what makes you so sure.

Clemson- 100% got in about 2 weeks ago!! woohoo
UGeorgia- 70%
University of South Carolina- 99%
University of Florida- 49%
University of Southern California- 15%

Just for the record, the transfer stats on CollegeBoard are from 07-08 and not the current year.

Cornell UNiversity 30-40ish%
Northwestern University 20%
U Penn 15%
UMD College Park: 95%
Temple University 95%

Yeah, 55% is probably high for Amherst, but I read it was 18/162. 11% isn't a good chance by all means, but it sounds better than going up against 4000+ kids. Rates are about the same among the schools that accept more applicants, but for some reason is sounds better only going up against 162 other kids. I put 55% for Amherst, an F, I figure my chances of getting to Amherst are very low and not likely. Same with Penn and Cornell. But, from what I read about what Amherst looks for in a transfer student, I think I have it... along with everyone else who applies, I guess. Plus, they prefer CC transfers from any state. I asked the admissions office before I started going to a CC if they preferred I go to UMass, get good stats, and then try to transfer to Amherst. The admissions office told me that I should look into a CC because it'll save me money, and that they have a community college initiative.

As for Columbia GS, the honors program at my school has an agreement with GS and like 99% of the honors kids from my school have gotten in. And the rep that I talked to encouraged me to apply when I told her I was afraid I couldn't afford it.

My school also does a nomination for Georgetown, which I'm up for, and 6/7 nominees have gotten in. The one person who didn't get accepted had a poor HS transcript.

Sorry guys, I was just kinda rushing through the list. I'll be happy if any of the schools I'm applying to accept me because I know the competition is tough. That's why I'm applying to so many. I'm not certain about any.

USC - 70%
UT - 85%
Rutgers - 99%

UC Berkeley - 68.4325%
UCLA - 80%
UCSD - 99%
UCSB - 99%

Pomona: <10%
Carleton: <10%
Claremont McKenna: 50% (with the soccer coach's help)
Grinnell: 50%
Whitman: 70%
Occidental: 80%
Scripps: 80%

Harvard- .001%
Yale- .001%
Princeton- 0%

ronpaul, make it 0 for Harvard - you know they don't take transfers. Good luck with Yale though!

Dude, Ron Paul, even though the elections are over, I'm still votin for ya ;)

id rather not chance myself :(

Correction: Harvard- 0%

Beardy, congatulations; you are now the 3rd known supporter of Ron Paul!!!
