HOOKS:

I am of Hispanic descent.

I will not be applying for financial aid.

You are OOS and applying to engineering school. Plus, your SAT and GPA are not really impressive. But you have some hooks, so I would say slight reach.

I would say big reach

Even with being a URM

I looked on the Michigan website and it lists comp sci as under College of Engineering and College of Science/Arts. Could I apply to the Science college instead of engineering to improve chances?

Applying to LSA won’t necessarily improve your chances. I would say U-M is a reach. High school GPA is the number one factor and 3.6 would put you on the fence.

I know Michigan CS looks specifically at your math scores from you SAT/ACT, because CS is derived from math. Your math score is very low. I would recommend re-taking the SAT and trying to bring your math up at least to a 700, but probably a 750. How did you do in your math classes in school? It would also help if you took AP Calculus, and not regular Calculus. I would say Michigan CS is a stretch even though you are URM. Maybe take the SAT 2 in math, to show that you are good in math. That’s just my thought
