HOOKS:

I am of Hispanic descent.

I will not be applying for financial aid.

GPA is too low, a 3.6 will not give you much of a shot even if your SAT is one the average.

Trust me, given current conditions, you have more of a shot than a number of others…

I got in with a 3.65 and a 2100 SAT this year so get that SAT up!

Also my ECs were weaker than yours.

SAT average was 1907…

SAT is fine…
GPA is competitive enough…
ECs are good enough…

You are competitive as an applicant. OOS presumably helps nowadays. You have a good chance, do not be discouraged.

I know somebody this year that got in with a 3.4 unweighted gpa and a 1250 on the SAT(out of 1600). This kid is a HUGE slacker. So, your getting in. My gpa is a lot like yours except my junior year was the worst year for me yet my weighted is crazy high, dont know how though. I"m also gonna apply for UCSB.

I was accepted into UCSB & alot of other great schools w/ a unweighted 3.2 GPA and SAT 1800. Dont give up.

hey taylorraquel12, what other schools did you get accepted to? If you dont mind me asking…

I only applied to UC Berkeley UCSB UC DAVIS & UT Austin. I was accepted to all but Berkeley. I live in Texas and could have gotten into alot of schools here but I was determined to get somewhere liberal. My sat i took once early junior year and my weighted GPA is much higher( Ive taken all AP & PREAP since freshman year). Also my ECs were stacked and I had a memorable story to tell for my essays so maybe that made up for my low SAT & Unweighted GPA. Idk.

are you in state or out of state?

i have the same situation , i’m from texas and i want to go to UCSB UC berkley UT austin & or NYU my gpa is 2.7 but im talking summer classes && some college courses to raise it up , im about to be a senior when school starts are there any other tips and suggestions?? how do you like UCSB ??

my EC’s are ridiculous. Thats the only tip i have really. Just blow their minds with your diversity in EC’s and essays. My essays were radical yet well written and complex topics. I was a state champ in Acadec and captain of Acadec & debate senior class pres. var bball and junk. blah blah blah. you get the point. just make up for your grades not being so good. That was my plan. Sorry for my terrible grammer its 5 in the morning and my laptop battery is dying lol

Good chance.

Be sure to apply for financial aid though anyways. . .
