Chance?

*nationally recognized school.
-ironically, such school doesn't have any STEM acitivity support. Probably because it's in so called 'white, rich community'??

My English teacher loved my essays for PLME and CA.

I ranked(these are 8 of10 schools that non citizens can rank)
yale
princeton
brown
uchciago
washington and lee
pomona
vanderbilt
swarthmore

and for regular:
MIT
dartmouth
Amherst
Grinnell

Possible ED II(if i didn't get matched):
washington and lee
pomona

possible EA(in case I didn't win matching):
Uchicago

Now, could you guess my chance?

Assume my essays in qb app are great.

Forgot to mention our family had no income for last 4 yrs because my father’s business got screwed up by world economy crisis in 2007-2008.
Also, EFC is zero.

It would be hard to imagine, and possibly a little suspicious, that your family had absolutely no income for four years. If that’s what you put on your QB application, you should be more worried about how curious that looks than you should be about how your stats look (but they look good).

Do you think the QB team wouldn’t wonder how your family survived? I know I am wondering. You’re saying you arrived here four years ago, yet for four years, had no income? Tough to believe.

We just lived off with saving for 4 yrs.(heh, used to be prosperous)

Your stats and EC’s look very good. I’m not sure what you’re asking or why. You have already submitted a QB application and ranked schools. Now you just wait to find out if you become a finalist and get matched. Usually kids do these chance threads before they apply to schools, presumably in the interest of choosing which colleges they should apply to or refining their lists.
It’s an utterly futile exercise regardless but in cases where the student isn’t just bragging the whole ‘chance me’ exercise probably serves to alleviate some anxiety. Maybe you just need to be reassured that you’re a qualified applicant. You are.

As far as the income issue, I know a QB family that has lived for years first by liquidating savings, then cashing in IRAs (with severe penalties), then selling the car, then furniture, finally the house. It does happen.

What I really wanted to respond to is your choice of colleges. Have you really done your research? Princeton and Brown are totally different schools. Chicago and Vandy have utterly different school cultures. And for your LACs, Pomona/Swarthmore are at one end of a spectrum and Washington and Lee are at the other. Again with your RD schools, Grinnell and MIT and Dartmouth? While you are waiting to hear back about NCM maybe you can do some deeper digging re: what it would be like to attend the different schools. A more traditional college where fraternities and sororities run the social scene is very different from a school where political activism is rampant and the student body is quirky and individualistic. Every college you’ve chosen is an outstanding educational institution but you should make sure you will be comfortable with your entire experience at college not just in the classroom. Good luck! and remember you can reorder your rankings after finalist notifications come out.

Thanks Honey BEE.

I should;ve additionally mentioned for colleges I am applying to by forwarding:
Pomona
Wash& Lee
MiT(RD, since I cna’t do mit through MIT)

Yeah I did research, and I realized that I am very comfortable with living in either
East side or west side, either sururban or urban. Also, I have no interest in frat(I can’t
afford that, can I?)
Technically, I know how to blend in anywhere :-)

I like both Uchicago/vandy culture. I ranked Princeton and Yale for some reason that I can’t explain in easy way

Forgot to mention Vassar though.

I have no doubt that you have a great chance to be matched unless your international student status matters.

most colleges I apply won’t probably care.

Beside, the LACs I am putting don’t have much internatinoal students, particularly from Korea because they are not known well to Korea.

Now I understand your choice of college above!
I’ll cross my fingers for you as another Korean.

Wow thanks.
hope it works out.
