Chance

Im not gonna make this complicated because I am only a sophomore. I am anticipating a GPA of 3.5 unweighted and 3.7 weighted. Is this GPA too low for universities like NYU, UC Berkeley and University of Southern California? I know GPA is not all that matters but just try to chance me based of it, thanks.

GPA isn’t all that matters, but it’s the most important factor. Grades decided over 4 years are weighted more heavily than test scores decided in a few hours. And before other considerations - ECs, essays, etc. - enter the equation, a college wants to be sure you can do the work.

So, to answer your question, that GPA is going to be a drag on your application at any of the schools you’ve named. Do your best to raise it.

A couple of things: 1) On a previous thread you asked about Michigan schools. UCB will cost >$50K/year for an out of state student. Can you afford that? 2) The UCs use a specific weighting system for GPA. https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/ A 3.7 UC GPA will not be even close for UCB.

yes I can afford that and also the UC uses junior and sophomore years and in that case my GPA would be 3.9 weighted

Dude I did that link you sent and I got a 3.75 and it said not bad at all…

For UCB, their admission average UCGPA is way above 4.

Average UC GPA for UCB is over 4.15
