Chances for UC Berkeley, NYU, and U of M

I have a weighted 3.95 cumulative gpa 3.87 freshman year to 4.16 senior year. I have taken 5 AP Courses throughout high school. Calc, gov, us history, physics, and psych. I took the SAT twice and got a 1200 and a 1250. I am taking it a third time this weekend. I wrote a good essay that had 2 English teachers look over it. It was about my injury senior year of football.
I play varsity football and basketball. I volunteer umping. I coach little kids basketball and football. I worked on habitat for humanities. I am in NHS. I am on student council. And the chess club. I played AAU basketball. I worked in the summer at my local recreation department.
Any input is appreciated thank you.

UCB will not consider Senior grades and you need to calculate your UC GPA: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Are you in-state CA? If you are OOS, you will need higher stats overall.

Your SAT score is below the 25th percentile. Aim for a 1400+ for a decent chance. Also the UC’s require 4 short answer essays.

Based on what you have posted, UCB is a Reach.

I also live in the state of Michigan (in state applicant for U of M). I also did not apply EA for U of M. I am 25th in my class rank which is out of 200 kids

Without senior year, my GPA remains a 3.95.

UC’s are very GPA focused but having competitive test scores, good EC’s and essays will help. Since you have a low SAT score and lower than average GPA, great essays and EC’s will not makeup for the lower stats.

Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19:

UCB: 12%

I’m not sure if this will make a difference but my gpa is unweighted not weighted.

So what is your UC GPA ? since you stated you have weighted cumulative GPA of 3.95. Test scores are still low for such a competitive school and your intended major can make a big difference in your chances also.

Wait what is your weighted and unweighted GPA? and what scale? and how many AP’s does your school offer? 5 is a decent amount but if your school has tons of them, it may not reflect well on your course “rigor.”

NYU you have a decent shot. Your GPA is a match… but still, SAT is low. I’m in the same boat too. My SAT’s are low for my schools. NYU also has strangely high SAT’s(about a 1400 average), compared to their 33% acceptance rate/ high 3 GPA requirements. Berkeley has both very high GPA req. and high SAT’s. U Mich, not sure. So, basically, get your scores up, sell yourself, and write killer essays.

My unweighted GPA is 3.95 up to junior year, on a 4.0 scale. I know my school offers 8 or 9 AP Courses. Thank you for your comments!

GPA and test scores are king at the UC’s. Based on your current stats, you are not competitive when compared to the incoming in-state stats.
The fees for the UC’s are $55K per year with no funding for OOS students.
NYU will run you $70K and your test scores are not strong.
U of M sounds like your best bet.

Thank you!

Anyone?

Update: I just got my third sat score back. My first score was a 1200 (math: 620 reading:580)
My second score was a 1250 (math:680 reading: 570)
My third score was a 1210 (math:620 reading:590)
I have already sent my first two scores, should I send my third one? Thank you
