Chancellor's reception invite

@SD2020: Every UC looks at each applicant differently, so it would expected that you may hear from some but not others in regard to honors/regents etc…

I got a letter today and I’m surprised to be considered a “top applicant”. 3.522 unweighed gpa, 3 ec’s, and 1680 sat score. I guess my personal statement was really good. Still happy.

@0921934: I just received my invite today. I was disappointed I didn’t get one a few days ago. Keep checking… the invitation was postmarked 2/19.

@gocinderella @0921934 what part of California do you live in?

Bay area

@gocinderella Congratulations!! What major did you get in for

@0921934Congrats!! What are your stats and what major

@SD2020 Where do you live and what are your stats?

Just got my invite today! 33 ACT 3.9 WGPA, Biochemistry for CCS (Alternate Biomedical Engineering or whatever was closest). I’m in North Cal near Tahoe.

Got my invite today and I’m super excited but they say the reception is at capacity and out me on waitlist :frowning:
Has anyone had a similar experience any previous years? I doubt many people would take themselves off so I kinda feel like I won’t be able to go. I just got the mail today and I tried to reserve my spot literally 15 min later idk why they didn’t create enough seats to accommodate me. But in the chance that I do go, do you guys know if we attend in formal attire or casual?

@IneffableMind: Was there another piece of paper inside the invite? It should give you additional information on who to contact if you are on the waitlist.

I’m sad both LA and Costa Mesa are up to capacity :frowning: would’ve really like to have gone.

@SD2020 There was but unfortunately I can’t find it right now, would you mind typing it out for me? I’m thinking my mom threw it away

@IneffableMind I went with my older daughter 3 years ago in San Jose and I’d suggest business casual. Khakis and a button down for the guys, skirt or nice pants and a blouse/sweater for the girls or something along those lines. There were a few guys in suits and a few kids in jeans/t-shirts, but mostly a little dressier. You’ll be meeting alumni and professors at a mix/mingle before the actual event where the Chancellor speaks. It was a very well done reception . BTW, my daughter is in her 3rd year at UCSB and absolutely loves it! If you have any more questions let me know.

Is there any info on whether parents/guests count as ‘seats’ that fill up? If it increases one’s chances of being able to attend, then I’ll probably just go by myself.

@ruetherford I think so, when we went the place was packed. We were literally pulling chairs off racks in the back of the hotel ballroom as the speakers were starting.

Can one of you please tell me what the small yellow sheet of paper attached with the Chancellor’s Invite said? I can’t find mine.

I don’t recall any additional paperwork with the Invitation. Did anyone else get one?

We also didn’t get any paper. All we got was an invitation card.

@4paleo @indsfolax There was a small yellow piece of paper inside, not a full sheet. Will let @IneffableMind know of I find mine.
